Major Company Locations and Expansions Fuel Job Growth
OED worked with 184 companies in FY 2018 who chose to locate or expand in Frederick County. The department helped to create 747 jobs and retain 976 jobs, representing more than $10M of capital investment. 
FITCI Awarded $450,000 Grant to Create Tech Makerspace at ROOT and Expand Services
Frederick's tech incubator was awarded two grants totaling $450,000 from the Rural Maryland Council. The first grant will develop a Community Accelerator Program and the second will create The Tech Shop, a new shared tech makerspace.

Cities & Towns Honored for Economic Development Achievements
OED hosted the first Municipalities Impact Awards on September 5th. Ten municipalities were honored for their commitments to supporting businesses.
Ag Education Program Winners Announced at the Great Frederick Fair
Five non-profits were awarded $1,000 grants to establish or expand their agriculture programs. The Farm Family of the Year, Ag Advocates of the Year, Ag Business of the Year and Young Farmer of the Year were also announced.
A2LA Celebrates 40 Years of Ensuring Quality Across the Globe
The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) in Frederick is the only independent, 501(c)3, non-profit, internationally-recognized accreditation group in the U.S. that offers a full range of laboratory services and training.
FREDERICK'S TOP 50 BUSINESSES 
Homewood at Frederick, Legal & General America, Integrace Buckingham's Choice and Metlfab are highlighted for their impacts and contributions to Frederick County's economy.  Frederick's Top 50 Businesses for 2018 is a metrics-driven list using analyzed data including: number of local employees, annual property taxes paid, square footage occupied, location sales volume and year established.

PROPERTY OF THE MONTH
The Galaxy Building (Class B Office) on N. Market St in Frederick is surrounded by amenities with direct access from MD 15 North via MD Route 26. The building underwent a complete renovation in 2017. Recent renovations include: new energy saving roof system, all new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, parking lot resurfaced and restriped, exterior lighting upgraded and more.

CELEBRATING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT MONTH
