A Message from the Principal

Lovejoy HS News 09 17 18

P arents and Guardians,

I hope you will be able to make it out to LHS for tonight's Open House. Our teachers are eager to meet you and share a little about their classes and what your student will be learning this year. The event begins at 6:30 (and lasts until 8:00), but I encourage you to arrive around 6:15.  This year we are "Going Green" and are encouraging all parents to log into PowerSchool before coming this evening so they will know their student's schedule.  Instructions for this can be found below in the body of this email.  If you need help logging in to PowerSchool, or simply prefer a hard copy of your child's schedule, we will have staff available to support you in the LHS Library beginning at 6:00 p.m.  During tonight's Open House you will follow a bell schedule to give you an opportunity to meet each of your student's teachers as well as see what their day is like. Thank you in advance for your partnership with us, and we look forward to seeing you tonight.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School
NOTE:
In an effort to be as efficient as possible, we prioritize our parent email as follows:

* Followed by the Calendar of Events and Activities
* Older items appear below the calendar until they become obsolete

"Hi!  My name is Zachary Taylor and I am a senior at Lovejoy High School.  My senior project is on the topic of Autism.  There are 2 events I would like to bring to your attention.

The first event is Leopard Friday on September 28th.  I will have a table in the Lovejoy High School courtyard with information on Autism as well as selling the Autism Awareness ribbon for $1 each.  All proceeds from this event will be donated to Autism Speaks.  Their mission: "Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions."  More information can be found on their website .

The second event is the Autism Walk I will be participating in on Saturday, September 29th in Richardson.  My goal is to raise $500 for the walk.  Please consider donating to this great cause by clicking here . Please search for my name under the "Search for a participant" tab to ensure your donation is counted toward my goal of $500. If you would like to participate in this walk, you are welcome to join my team (Team Draeven) or create your own team.
