Join us for a tasty barbeque at the shelter on September 22nd from 11:30AM to 2:30PM.  You can enjoy a delicious lunch for $5.00 and the proceeds will go to purchase iCalmCat feline relaxation systems for our shelter rooms.  These systems play music which has been proven to relax and calm kitties.  You can attend the seminar, or visit the shelter, then have lunch, and benefit our cats!  Please click the link to learn more about the iICalm systems.

Opt to Adopt Rose

Rose is our featured kitty this time.  She is 3 and 1/2 years old and a very healthy cat.  Rose is a very sweet girl, but she needs to be an only cat as she doesn't like to share her humans. She loves to chat and curl up with you. Come in and meet this pretty tabby and see if she could be your new family member!

You can read more about Rose on her Adopt-a-Pet page:

We are pleased to announce that six Kuranda beds and/or towers have already been donated to Cat Care Society.  These are a wonderful way to provide cats with a comfortable, soothing place to sleep and relax.

Please click here for more information and to donate a bed or tower at a discounted price.  Thank you for your support and generosity!

Household Hazards for Cats

                        Please keep your cats safe!

1.  Ingested string, thread, ribbon, and yarn can
cause life threatening intestinal issues for
     cats.
2.  Believe it or not, some cats love to hang out in
the washer and dryer.    Be sure to check your
     appliances before starting them.
3.  Almost anything is better for your cat than a
nice, warm, bowl of milk.  Most cats are lactose intolerant, so a big
bowl of milk for your kitty will probably result in a litter box mess for
you.  Side effects from drinking milk include vomiting, diarrhea, and
     general stomach upset.
4.  Many cats enjoy playing with wires.  Cats can shock and and/or burn
themselves by chewing on wires around the house.
5.  Cats often like to gaze out windows, but make sure they are safe by
checking screens thoroughly.  Cats might fall out of unscreened or
     poorly screened windows.
6.  Many cats enjoy snacking on household plants.   It's important to
ensure that the plants in your home are not toxic to cats.  A few
examples of toxic plants are daisies, carnations, amaryllis, aloe, and
calla lilies.  Click here for a more complete list.
7.  Much like string, rubber bands can cause serious and possibly fatal
intestinal problems if they are ingested by cats.  Please put away
your rubber bands securely so they don't become dangerous toys.

Paws on the Green
A Big Success

Our third Paws on the Green Charity Golf Tournament was a great success and everyone had a wonderful time.  Our shotgun start was a little late beginning due to the elk herd being in charge of the greens that morning.  Once they left, the golf games could begin.  Thank you to all of our volunteers and supporters...the cats benefited hugely from this event!

September
Adoptions

September has been very busy in the adoption area.  So far, 33 cats have found their forever homes.  Of these, 29 are kittens. We have had lots of mothers and babies in the shelter this season so we are happy to have placed so many.  Even after all these adoptions, we still have 13 kittens ready for adoption, and 32 young ones who need a little more time and care to prepare them for a home.

Storytime with Cats
We offer therapeutic reading times for children with some of our most sociable and patient cats.  Sessions are for one hour, and children must be accompanied by an adult.  For more information contact Suellen at
[email protected].

It's the fall season, and we are now planning for our annual Santa Paws Festival and Holiday Market to be held December 1st and 2nd at the shelter.  If you are a crafter or baker, please be planning your special creations to contribute to this event.  Besides the crafts, Bake Shop, and Book Nook, our Holiday Market will offer many cat and holiday themed items that have been donated. We will be asking our supporters for gently used articles and will advise when we can begin accepting donations.
