In July Scott Waner be
cam
e the Chairman of the Board for DOVES. We are thrilled to welcome him in his new role as we work toward our mission o
f of
fering intervention, education, and prevention services to those affected by domestic violence as they build safe and healthy lives. Here is a message from the Chairman:
The history of DOVES starts with people in the valley recognizing a need, then working together to support those affected by domestic violence. As a long time member of this community, I have been able to see the positive impact DOVES has had on victims, including children. DOVES has grown to include programs that work to prevent domestic violence and assist people who are transitioning away from relationships that were defined by violence. The work our staff and volunteers do on a daily basis can break the chains of domestic violence that can creep from generation to generation. There is great power in the thought that the work being done today will improve lives of many people for years to come, including people we will never meet.
It is an honor to be part of the organization that focuses on improving lives of people in such a way that we can have an immediate impact on those around us as well as a positive impact on future generations. I have learned a great deal from the leaders on the Board and staff of DOVES. As Chair of the Board, it is my desire to work with the Board to support our talented staff as they do the awe inspiring work of teaching people how to prevent violent relationships from developing, addressing the needs of victims of domestic violence, and helping victims transition toward a life free from domestic violence.
