These grants will provide teachers with funding for resources, speakers, field trips, and more to help students study and commemorate the 150th anniversary of the 15th Amendment, which states:
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
With 2020 also an election year, it is a perfect time to teach Reconstruction's legacy through the 15th Amendment and engage students in activities to defend voting rights today.
You can help shape our upcoming mini-grant program by filling out
a short survey, where you may (briefly) tell us what you plan to do and what you aspire to do.
Please email us if you have any questions or wish to offer additional information.
Sincerely,
Katie Orr
