Cambridge Congratulates National Merit Semi-Finalist

Congratulations to Cambridge's four National Merit Semi-Finalists, Austin Farr, Christopher Fettes, Caroline Redick, and Nikita Savant.  These four students are amongst the 16,000 Semifinalists, and may continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million.

The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Our four Cambridge students entered the program through achieving the highest-scoring entrants on their 2017 Preliminary SAT, and represent less than one percent of the nationwide pool of Semifinalists.

Way to go Austin, Christopher, Caroline, and Nikita!

9th and 10th Grade Parent Meeting

Parents and guardians of 9th and 10th-grade students are invited to a parent information meeting this evening at 6:00 pm. Our Counseling Department and Administration will review curriculum, graduation requirements, eligibility for Hope Scholarships and financial aid, as well as what students need to be successful during their four years in high school. The meeting will be held in the Cambridge Theater.

A Spanish speaking meeting will be held at 6:30 pm in the Student Center.
PAWS Changes
Change Form Now Available
Students have the flexibility to change their PAWS as their interests and academic needs change. The PAWS Change Request Form is now available at www.cambridgehs.org . Please note that academic changes will take priority and students are to follow their current schedule until they receive a new schedule indicating that their change was made.

Parents, students are asked to complete the PAWS request form to advocate for their interest or where they need support. Should a student require support in a specific subject area, the student's teacher, grade-level administrator, or counselor will request to have a student's PAWS schedule change to support that need.
Here Comes the Bus Tracking App
Launches today!
Beginning today, Fulton County Schools will offer a free app called "Here Comes The Bus" that allows parents to track their student's school bus. The app uses GPS technology to locate and track a school bus. Similar to ride-sharing apps, buses will show up as an icon on a map, and parents can follow its progress at the bus moves toward their child's stop.

To sign up, parents need their child's student ID number and the Fulton County Schools' code - 87428. After completing a brief user profile, the app is ready to use. Multiple students in the same household can be put on the same account, and using their Launchpad login, students can download the app to their cell phones or other personal devices to view their bus status.

The app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store or parents can visit www.herecomesthebus.com to sign up. More information, including FAQs and troubleshooting information, also is posted here: https://tinyurl.com/HCTBapp.

PSAT: Wednesday, October 10
Student Guide
The first step in your college search does not involve choosing a location or a program of study. But it does require some work on your part. The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test) offers you two unique opportunities. First, your PSAT score helps you show today's best colleges and universities that you have what it takes to succeed. Second, the test helps you sharpen your test-taking skills for the SAT exam next year since the test includes the same types of multiple choice questions you will find on the SAT Reasoning Test.

Today's best colleges and universities are on the lookout for students with the nation's highest PSAT scores because it is from this pool that National Merit Scholarships are awarded. Before you face the challenge of the PSAT, take a few minutes to discover some simple strategies you can use in your PSAT prep that can boost both your confidence and your PSAT scores!
