Victor Provost perform their fall concert on Monday, November 4th - 8pm!

Jazz 4 Justice™ 2019 will take place on Friday, November 8th, 8pm in the Center for the Arts!

The Mason Jazz Ensemble , directed by Jim Carroll, collaborates with Ed Weiner and the law community to present its annual benefit concert, Jazz 4 Justice™. Proceeds from this
performance support vital community efforts by Legal Services of Northern Virginia and the
George Mason University Jazz Studies Department.

The Jazz Workshop Big Band, directed by Rick Parrell, perform on
Wednesday, November 13th, 8pm in Harris Theatre. They will be performing the music of Thad Jones, Mike Tomaro, Alan Baylock, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Neal Hefti and more!

The Mason Jazz Combos , directed by Wade Beach and Latin American Ensemble , directed by Juan Megna perform their fall concert on Monday, November 18th - 8pm!

Free Admission - Open to the Public - MUSI 300 Credit
The Mason Jazz Vocal Night will take place on Monday, November 25, 8pm in the Center for the Arts!
This evening will feature Jazz Voice Studio soloists, the Mason Jazz Vocal Ensemble,
directed by Darden Purcell, and special guests Forest Park High School Platinum Vocal Jazz ,
directed by Lara Brittain!

Master Classes
We are so grateful for an incredible fall with many guest artists working with our students!
LADAMA Project worked with the Jazz Combos, Latin American Ensemble and Mason Jazz Vocal Ensemble as part of their artist in residency program through the College of Visual and Performing Arts and Center for the Arts.

Master pannist, Glenn Rowsey not only built new pans for the Steel Pan Ensemble, but gave an incredible demonstration on the history of the pan, how it is constructed and tuned.
Grammy award-winning saxophonist, arranger and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Illinois, Chip McNeill worked with The Jazz Workshop Big Band!
October Events
Members of the Mason Jazz Vocal Ensemble performed "God Bless America" for the
National Military Family Association's 50th Anniversary Gala!

The National Military Family Association (NMFA) is the voice of military families for 50 years, standing behind service members, their spouses, and their children. Keynote speakers were General David Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, Admiral Karl L. Schultz, Commandant,
United States Coast Guard and more.
On October 19th the Mason Steel Pan Ensemble performed an upbeat set in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the annual Halloween Party of attorney Jonathan Emord. The costume-clad ensemble performed selections representative of the Calypso tradition of Trinidad. This annual event features hours of musical entertainment, theater performance, food, a rock-climbing wall, and other attractions .
Mason Jazz Guitar Night at Epicure was a huge hit! Thank you to Epicure Cafe for hosting, Jazz faculty Regan Brough, Kevin McDonald for wonderful playing, Shawn Purcell for organizing
and the studio guitarists for their incredible artistry!
Mason Jazz Heads To Brazil
We are excited to announce that we were awarded a grant by the George Mason University Global Discovery Program to travel to São Paulo , Brazil over spring break, March 6-15, 2020!

The Latin American Ensemble and faculty will travel to Campinas and São Paulo , Brazil to take in Brazilian culture through educational events, workshop, cultural activities and performances.
