Dear Colleagues,
The sleepy days of summer came to an abrupt end on August 29 when students and faculty returned for the first day of classes. I'm so happy to welcome you back.
The fall semester is a time of engagement and excitement as students and teachers establish the relationships that lead to successful learning environments. And, as we start the 2017-18 academic year,
I want to wish each of you a personally satisfying and professionally rewarding year.

Busy First Day of Classes
Three Rivers halls were filled with students on the first day of classes, Tuesday, August 29. Over 4,100 students are registered for classes this semester, and that number is growing.
Students can still register for Monday-only classes until this Friday, September 8. The first Monday classes will be held September 11. Interested in

Big Turnout for Super Saturday
Student Services saw an impressive crowd on August 5. They helped over 80 students, registered 48, processed 27 applicants, and assisted many with photo ids, missing documents, placement tests and more. Great work, Student Services!

U-Pass Gives Students a Free Ride
This semester Three Rivers students can get a U-Pass and ride buses and trains

Norwich Economic Development Team and Norwich
Mayor Hinchey
Tour Three Rivers
Mayor Hinchey and the Norwich Economic Development Team toured the Three Rivers campus on Tuesday, August 15. The group is working to develop additional partnerships between Three Rivers and the city and businesses of Norwich. During the tour, they saw the new Tutoring Center and learned about future plans for our manufacturing programs. Members of the group included: Bob Mills, the Executive Director of the
Norwich Community Development Corporation; Fawn Walker, Norwich Public Utilities; Community Police Officer Dennis
Bialowas; Mayor Deb Hinchey; and Director of Public Works R

Renovated Tutoring Center is Open for Business
Stop by and admire the newly renovated Tutoring Center in room C113. The enlarged space is bigger, brighter and provides more areas for students to study together, collaborate on group projects and receive individual tutoring.
An official ribbon cutting will be held on October 19, details will follow.

Golf Classic Raises Over $43,000
The TRC Foundation has had a busy August. On Monday, August 14, they celebrated the 20th Anniversary Golf Classic at Fox Hopyard.
It was a beautiful day on the links with 90 golfers and they raised over $43,000! The foundation is grateful to Scott Donovan from G. Donovan Associates for acting as the tournament sponsor again this year.

Brittney Hedges to Run for Ledyard Board of Education
The Ledyard Republicans endorsed their candidates for the Board of Education. Among them was Three Rivers student Brittney Hedges who impressed the nominating subcommittee during her interview. Best of luck, Brittney!
