District Matters
A Month of Awareness
Throughout the year, Livingston Public Schools works to address and meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all
students. As a district, we are continuing our work on supporting student wellness and the school community by continuing to promote mindfulness and social emotional learning in schools. During the month of October, there are many activities programmed across all schools that support the Week of Respect, School Violence Awareness Week, and Red
Ribbon Week. Click below to read more about our district’s upcoming important initiatives.
Student Matters
Fourth grader Charly Teitelbaum (right) has an egg she has continued to soak in white vinegar so it will “bounce like a ball.” She brought it to school to share with her Collins School classmates including Gaya Presman and Lexi Horowitz, who got a glimpse of the experimental egg on the playground!
Riker Hill first graders celebrated the beginning of the fall season with pumpkin picking. Shown with their pumpkins are Madison Huhn, Samantha Rubinstein, Kelsie Larsen, Farrah Kessler and Mahfooz Ahmadi.
The "Thinkables,” friendly visitors from a far-away planet, "invaded" Harrison's annual pep rally to teach students and staff how to use flexible thinking. Shown, fifth grader Devin Santucci offers the audience tips for facing challenges with a positive mindset and flexible thinking as teachers Mrs. Kristy Mullen, Mrs. Angela Raiola, Mrs. Jodi Frohnapfel and Mrs. Stacy Nigro look on.  See more Pep Rally photos HERE!
Writers were hard at work in Stefanie Velardi’s second grade classroom at Burnet Hill. Shown, Aadit Urhekar and Sam Wasserstein found a comfy and productive spot on the carpet to focus on their pieces. Writing in the background is Rayyan Hermansyah.
At its recent gently-used clothing drive, Mt. Pleasant Elementary School collected 1,986 pounds of used clothing, linens and toys! The items were donated to help people in need, while also raising money for the 5th Grade Committee. Shown loading the truck are students Logan Kates, Alex Reiter, Emily Baltuch and Amanda Drucks.
Hillside School fifth graders applied the scientific method by experimenting with UV beads to test the effectiveness of sunscreen. Shown working on their experiment are Aleksandr Ekimkin and Anna Shuvalova.
Celebrating Character!
Puma Pride Day at Mt. Pleasant Middle School provided opportunities for the sixth graders to demonstrate the school’s character pillars – Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship – through collaborative, team-building activities.
