Jeff Golden joined IMPACT in 2016 after relocating to North Carolina from Chicago. He enjoys spending time watching Formula 1 races and Cubs Baseball with his wife (Vicky) and 2 sons (Emmett and Angus).
BJ Witkin (Beej) came to IMPACT in 2013. When he is not busy publishing, he volunteers with a dog rescue and vacations with his family. He's also been doing more yoga, including a Yoga With Puppies session that helped raise money for Triangle Beagle Rescue.
Kim Overton  started at IMPACT this June and has over  26 years of experience in regulatory operations. She enjoys spending time at the beach and the mountains of NC. She also enjoys the arts with her 2 girls.
Randy Carmichael joined IMPACT in 2017 after working with GlaxoSmithKline for 27 years. He enjoys spending time with his family, working in his yard, and kicking back in his recliner with his favorite lapdogs, Boone and Sassyfrass.
Kathy Elks came to IMPACT in 2013 after working for both small and large pharmaceutical companies. She loves to garden, bake, and tackle home improvement projects.  She and her husband, now "empty nesters," cherish the time they get to spend with their family on the weekend.
Ann's Retirement
Our resident document specialist, Ann Brown, retired from IMPACT this past July. To send her off, we ate delicious treats and played a game of IMPACT Family Feud. Below is a farewell note she left us:

"What does retirement mean? It's only been since July for me, so I am still exploring that concept. I delayed retirement years after my normal retirement age, as it took me a long time to decide when to do so. A major factor contributing to this delay was working at IMPACT, led by owner Mark Cierpial and COO Tim Garver. You would be hard pressed to find more compassionate and understanding leaders. As a caregiver, I worked some odd hours, and they allowed me that freedom in order to meet both my personal and work-related responsibilities. Not only were they understanding of my situation, but they always made me feel good about myself and my work. Working onsite was always a pleasure, since the company's culture is one of respect for each other and for our clients. And, it was fun! There were many special events, including my fabulous retirement party, which made working there such a delight. That is why it took so long for me to decide to retire - IMPACT is such a great place to work. However, I finally came to the conclusion it was time to attack the bucket list. Now that my "summer vacation" is nearing its end, I'm starting to get active in a few interests that I have. Currently, my first goal is to get out of my pajamas before lunch! I say this at 11:00am sipping tea in my pilcrow mug (see above) in front of my computer. I guess that means I still have an hour to meet this goal!"

At IMPACT, we always strive to learn from one another. This year, we offered several training sessions for medical writers, including seminars on communicating effectively, writing protocols, using OneNote for projects, and dealing with difficult sponsors, as well as best practices for reviewing documents. At the end of September, Jenny and Ilana led a forum on co-authoring documents.
