Item# 0511 -  Delicata Squash

Our favorite autumn squash! It's taste is very similar to butternut squash, but it's mush easier to work with. It's thin skin is edible and virtually undetectable when roasted-- which means you don't have to peel it!!!

Commodity Updates

ALERT!  BERRIES
Harvest transitions are affecting supplies, quality, and pricing of Blackberries, Blueberries, and Strawberries. For specifics, view The Source in its entirety (link below).

ALERT!  EASTERN VEGETABLES
Hurricane Florence's heavy rains and winds impacted supplies of Cucumbers, Bell Peppers, Eggplants, and Squash. Zucchini is of particular concern--consider yellow squash.

PEAK SEASON!  GRAPES
Quality on Red and White varieties is excellent!

HAND FRUITS
Apples and Pears are in peak season; quality is excellent!
Small oranges (113CT) oranges are scarce. Quality will improve when Navel begins at the end of the month. Avoid use-- consider seasonal options for better quality and cost savings.

LETTUCES
Supplies of Iceberg and Green Leaf have lightened due to cooler weather and the beginning of field transition on the West Coast to points south. Consider Romaine or Value-Added for better quality and cost savings.

PEAK SEASON!  ONIONS & POTATOES
New crop! Quality and pricing are great.

STONE FRUITS
Domestic peaches and nectarines are winding down quickly;
domestic plums will finish by November.

TOMATOES
We're waiting to see what Hurricane Michael's impact will be on Florida and Georgia growing regions. It is likely that October will show a much stronger market with
demand shifting entirely to the west.
