From Our Archives... A Frank Loesser, Tribute
|
|
Frank Loesser, universally regarded as a master craftsman of the popular song, was the last of the great songwriters of the pre-rock era.
Susan Halliday, professional singer and freelance writer, wrote a thorough article on Frank Loesser in our Fall 2010 newsletter. Check out her article!

Message from the President
Jim Keating
|
|
As we enter the winter months, I'm looking forward to our Annual
Holiday Party. It's always a heartwarming time to connect with like-minded singers and supporters. I'm thankful to Linda Marks for opening her home, and thanks in advance for all your pot luck contributions. The very talented Joe Mulholland will grace the Chickering to accompany your songs. I hope to see you there.
We had a successful
Masterclass with Sharon McNight earlier in November. We had seven singers get coached and watch each other get coached by a seasoned professional performer. The consensus was positive as she gave each singer specialized instruction that they needed. We hope to have her back if she returns from Los Angeles again. We thank Beverly Beckham who took quality photographs of the performers as well.
We continue our monthly
Open Mic which has become our flagship event. It provides a safe and supportive environment in which to hone our musical performances. Linda Marks produces and contracts with an amazing variety of accompanists who can all sight-read (and some even sight transpose!) I look forward to planning more events in the new year.
Thanks go out to my fellow
Board of Directors (Carole, Dave, Linda, and Wendy), volunteers, and our members. I hope everyone has happy, healthy, holidays filled with music and joy.
