YC Christmas Cash!
YC Christmas Cash raffle chances are being sold for $25 through November 1. Each calendar raffle purchased will have a four-digit number and will enter the buyer in a daily drawing for the month of December.  Each day of December has a different payout assigned.  When we pull a purchaser's calendar number on a specific date in December, they will win the amount noted on that date (we are not using PA Lottery numbers).  Every purchaser has 31 chances to win, coordinating with the 31 days of the month.  Winners will be posted on the YC website,  www.yorkcatholic.org , and will be notified by email.  The winner does not need to be present to win.  Winning raffle amounts will be mailed weekly.

Students should return order forms and money to their homeroom representative in a sealed envelope marked with student name(s) and homeroom(s).  Please make sure the order forms are legible and filled out completely. Numbered calendars labeled with the purchaser's name will be sent home for distribution via the oldest student in the selling family after November 4.  Parents will be notified via email when calendars are being sent home.

One Call Now Text Opt-in
Don't Miss the Snow Day Message!
In preparation for the colder months ahead, we have updated our "One Call Now" Emergency Notification System.  In the event our school schedule is adjusted due to weather, a phone call and an email will be sent to the contact information we have on file.

A text option is also available.  If you opted-in to receive text messages last school year, you do not need to do anything additional.  If you would like to begin receiving text messages this year, you must "opt-in" to receive text notification.

To do so, text the word ALERT to the number 22300.  Do not include any words other than the word ALERT.

After doing so, you will no longer receive a phone call at that number and will only receive a text message.

If you do not want to receive text notification, you do not have to do anything.  Your phone number and email address from our Vision system have automatically been entered into the One Call Now system.
Personal Info Changes
If students or parents make changes to personal information throughout the year (name, address, phone number, email address, emergency contact, etc.), the following steps must be taken to fully notify York Catholic of the changes:

VISION
If you need assistance with your Vision account, please contact Deb Gingerich at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x319.

CONSTANT CONTACT
York Catholic's emails to parents are sent through a service called Constant Contact. If you currently receive emails from York Catholic (i.e., Irish Eye e-newsletter, etc.), there is a link at the bottom of each email you receive that allows you to edit your Constant Contact profile. Click on:  Update Profile/Email Address.

If you do not receive York Catholic emails, go to www.yorkcatholic.org and scroll to the bottom right and click on the Subscribe button in the Email Sign-up section. Questions? Contact: Lori Keith at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x318.

FACTS
Families can access their account online to make the necessary changes to personal information. Families also have the option to call the FACTS Parent Help Center at 866-441-4637 which is available 24 hours a day.
Lunchtime Fee
Next week you will be receiving an email from our Lunchtime Payment Service informing you of an increase in the fee for those using direct withdrawal from a checking account (ACH) for their student's lunch account.

Effective January 1, 2020, the convenience fee charged to parents for an ACH transaction will be increasing to $1.50 per each $500 deposit level. This change is due to increased overhead in maintaining the service, the largest factor being failed ACH transactions.

Lunchtime will be sending out three notices to all parents who have recurring transactions setup to notify them of the change. The first will go out on November 1, the second on December 1, and the final notice will go out on December 31.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, November 14, from 3:30-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM.  We encourage parents to take advantage of this opportunity to talk with teachers about their student's progress or course of study.  To schedule conferences, please click hereIf you have difficulty navigating the website, please contact Mrs. Deb Gingerich at  [email protected]  and she will be happy to assist you.  In the event a teacher's online conference schedule is full, please email the teacher directly to request a conference time. We recommend you schedule without delay as conference slots fill quickly.
All Saints Mass

All Saints Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 1, at 10:20 AM in the auditorium. All students will be attending and parents are welcome to join us as well. This will fulfill the Holy Day of Obligation.
All Souls Day - Commemoration of the Dead
In the heritage of the Roman Catholic Church, November 2 has been set aside as a day when we remind ourselves to pray for those who "have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith." The entire month of November is then dedicated to pray for them and for the healing of memories in their regard. Faculty and students are invited to submit the names of deceased loved ones to be remembered in prayer throughout the month of November. Their names will be placed on the altar in the chapel and commemorated during Mass. If your family wishes to provide additional names to be included in our month-long remembrance and prayer, please email the names to us at [email protected] and we will be sure to add them to those already in the chapel.
Junior High Glow Dance

The 7th & 8th Grade students are invited to the Junior High Glow Dance on Friday, October 25, from 7-9 PM in the cafeteria. Students are encouraged to " get their glow on" by wearing glow bracelets, necklaces, etc. Cost is $6 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets are on sale in homeroom October 21-25.
College Financial Aid Night/FAFSA Completion
A College Financial Aid Night is planned for families on Thursday, November 7, at 6:30 PM at YC.  A representative from Pennsylvania's Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will speak about all aspects of financial aid including state and federal grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships.  She will speak on financial aid for all students regardless of which college they plan to attend.  The evening will also include information about completing the FAFSA application for college financial aid. Parents and students who have not yet had the experience of completing the state and federal financial aid forms will find the information extremely valuable. While this presentation is geared toward parents, students are welcome to accompany their parents to get an understanding and appreciation of the financial obligation of a college education.  To register, contact Ms. Kelsey Kman at 717-846-8871 x354 or [email protected]
Bring a Friend to School
YC is holding Bring a Friend to School Day on Monday, November 18. Current students can encourage an interested friend (from dance class, scouts, a sports team, your neighbor or cousin, etc.) to spend the day at YC as a shadow student. Instead of shadowing with one of our Ambassadors, they can shadow with their friend. Please have the friend's parent contact Ms. Heather Hoffman at [email protected]  or 717-846-8871 x220 by Friday, November 1, to set up a visit day and to receive a permission slip. Only students with a real interest in possibly attending YC will be scheduled for this date.
Dress Code Change

As we end the first quarter of school, we transition our dress code to 2nd quarter regulations beginning Monday, November 4. Click here for the 2nd quarter regulations or go to pages 12-17 of the Student Handbook for specifics about the dress code.
Winter Sports Set to Begin
Online Paperwork Due
Students wishing to participate in athletics must submit the following paperwork online at www.arbiterathlete.com no later than Friday, November 8, at 3 PM if they have not already done so for the year.
              • PIAA Physical Form
              • Athlete & Parent Agreement (last page of physical form)
              • ImPACT Test
If a student doesn't submit the online paperwork by the deadline, he or she will not be permitted to practice the first day of the season. For some sports, this could mean the student will not make the team. Visit the General Information section of Athletics page of the YC website for the procedure and link to Arbiter Athlete. Contact Mr. Cross at [email protected]  to learn if a valid ImPACT test is on file.

Practices Begin
All winter sports teams will begin practices Friday, November 15. Check with the team coach or Mr. Cross for exact times and locations.
Athletic Booster Club Meeting

All parents of current student-athletes are members of the Athletic Booster Club. Please plan on attending the Athletic Booster Club meeting tonight, Thursday, October 24, at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria.
