Hello

Spring season has arrived despite a foot of new fallen snow, and our lineup of all-star commercial real estate brokers are warmed up and ready to pitch new opportunities here in Frederick. From large land offerings and smaller infill sites, to adaptive reuse projects in Downtown Frederick and on the Golden Mile, we expect to go the stretch and bat in some game winning runs this season. Frederick has a deep bench and coaching staff to help make sure the Frederick team is ready for game play.

This issue of DED Business News focuses on a few key select win opportunities. In addition, we are highlighting the work of a recent University of Maryland intern – Vanessa Moreno – who conducted a comprehensive analysis of the Downtown Business District uses by building.

Get your bat and gloves ready.  Game on!

Best regards,
Richard G. Griffin, AICP, CEcD

Frederick By Foot
The Department of Economic Development (DED) Intern Vanessa Moreno got to know every square-foot of Downtown Frederick this past summer. Really. As part of her internship with the City of Frederick's Department of Economic Development, the UMD Geography student completed feet-on-the-ground research in order to update a City database of the every existing structure in a wide Downtown area. The key data points she sought to confirm was property use and size.

Here we take a look back on Vanessa’s project to track usage by square foot in Downtown Frederick.
