Uptown Updates
October 11, 2018

Keep up to date with the most recent news from Uptown Church!  Uptown is a community of people who want to experience the full life that is found in Jesus Christ and to share this life with people in Charlotte and around the world.
Ordo Salutis: Understanding Our Great Salvation

What role do we play and what role does God play in our salvation? That question has divided Christians for centuries. Yet understanding the Bible's answer to that question helps us more deeply appreciate how great a salvation God has given us in Christ and just how securely, and assuredly, we can rest in his power to save us to the uttermost.

High School Greece Mission Trip Updates - Oct. 21 meeting

Current team members and anyone else interested in going on the mission trip are invited to an information meeting on October 21 after church. Due to the overwhelming excitement for the High School Greece Mission Trip we would like to announce a second trip. We will introduce the new dates and registration process, discuss team exceptions, describe the work we will be doing and answer any questions you may have.

The second week of the Greece Trip is for rising 10th through graduating seniors with priority going to 11th and 12th graders who have not been before.

The pastors and missionaries in Greece are so thankful for the Lord's provision of two teams and we are too!

Rethinking how we Coordinate, Plan Events, and Communicate at Uptown - Give us your feedback

Are  you or anyone you know skilled at project  management, event planning, volunteer coordination, communications, or social media?  We are looking for  recommendations  of Uptown members with knowledge in these areas who might be willing to consult with us and/or serve with us in the various ministries of the church.  As we discover those with interest we will explore ways to make this work.   Please  contact  Lisa Marie Ferguson at  [email protected]  with recommendations or for further details.  We'd love to hear from you!
Current Adult Ed Classes
September and October

Myth Busters:
Battling the Most Common Misunderstandings and Caricatures of
Christianity and the Bible

Teachers: Mike Kruger and Tom Queen
Location: 3rd Floor Boardroom
When:   9:15 am

Living in a post-Christian world means that more and more people simply don't know what Christians really believe or what they are really like. Misperception and mistakes about Christianity abound on the internet, social media, and in common culture. This class will challenge some of the most common myths, helping us respond more effectively to the critiques and challenges of an ever-more-hostile world.

Rethinking Hospitality: Offering our Meals, Homes, Neighborhoods, and Church for the Glory of God

Teachers: Dave Kulp, Forde Britt, Mark Skylling, and Chris Van Roekel
Location: Resource Center
When:  9:15 am

Hospitality is much more than just dinner parties and event planning, but what is hospitality?
This class will not only seek to answer that question but will also address other foundational
topics like the heart of hospitality and the cost of hospitality. We will also address a number of
practical aspects of hospitality including using meals, homes, neighborhoods and our church
community for the glory of God. We trust that God will convict us all and will use this time to
call us out of our comfortable schedules and into the lives of others through what Rosaria
Butterfield calls "Radical Hospitality."
