The State Board approved for publication in the NJ Register amendments, as revised at the October 3 State Board meeting, pertaining to assessment and graduation requirements at N.J.A.C. 6A:8, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:4-15 and N.J.S.A. 18A:7A-10 through 14, 18A:7C-1 et seq., 18A:7E-2 through 5, 18A:35-4.2 and 4.7, and 18A:59-5.
New Jersey Educator Preparation Programs, and State Board of Examiners and Certification
The State Board discussed new rules at N.J.A.C. 6A:9A, and N.J.A.C. 6A:9B, pertaining to a teacher leader endorsementpursuant to P.L. 2015, c. 111 (N.J.S.A. 18A:26-2.18 through 2.22). NJDOE Assistant Commissioner of Academics and Performance Dr. Linda Eno presentedan overview of the teacher leadership process.
Fiscal Accountability, Efficiency, and Budgeting Procedures
NJDOE Assistant Commissioner of Finance Kevin Dehmer informed the State Board of amendments at N.J.A.C. 6A:23A18.6(a)66 pertaining to private employers providing sick time to certain employees pursuant to P.L. 2018, c. 10 (N.J.S.A. 34:11D-1 et seq.).
Appendix A (District Performance Review) and Appendix B (District Performance Review for County Special Services School Districts) to specify the review of a school district’s social studies curriculum and instruction will monitor whether they include the Amistad Commission and Holocaust Commission mandates. The Department also proposes to amend another indicator in the District Performance Reviews (DPRs) to ensure alignment with a current data collection.
