What:   One of the region's favorite holiday events, downtown Burlington's Lighted Holiday Parade takes place November 30 at 5 PM. Dozens of floats and entries will be showcased in the parade, with the theme of "Jingle on Jefferson." A special visitor from the North Pole will be on hand; afterwards, be sure to head down to the riverfront for a special tree lighting, concert and cheer! The Lighted Holiday Parade is made possible by Pritchard Broadcasting.
What:   The cut-off for Friday Facts the week of Thanksgiving will be Tuesday, November 26 at 12 PM. Friday Facts will be sent out on Wednesday, November 27. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Belinda Colwell or 319-208-0042.
What:   It's a busy time of year, but don't forget to nominate for the Community Awards. They include Community Impact, Project of the Year, Best Renovation to a Facility, Young Professional of the Year, and Business Person of the Year. Now is the time to nominate your business, a program or even yourself for all of the wonderful things they do. We encourage you to self-nominate - you know the details best!

Tree Lighting Ceremony 
What:  Burlington Riverfront Entertainment presents the first annual tree lighting ceremony on the riverfront. A 25 ft. real tree will stand in front of the Memorial Auditorium and lighted snowflakes will line the walkway of the riverfront. Live music, Santa and Mayor Shane McCampbell will lead the countdown and light the tree. Attendees are asked to bring a donation of nonperishable food items to benefit various organizations who help feed families in need. Thank you to the sponsors who made this event possible.

Accepting Thanksgiving Donations  
What:  The Domestic Violence Intervention Program is proud to work with a community as involved as Des Moines County.
