Health tip: Finding Hope after Trauma
by Christine Dietz, Ph.D., L.I.S.W.

In the past week, I offered counseling or spiritual direction to six women and one male survivor of sexual and physical violence, listened to a friend whose memories of her own sexual abuse were triggered by the hearing, and led a training session for mental health professionals on trauma sensitive care. This was a relatively slow week. My colleagues were just as busy as I was. Every day I am privileged to witness the heroic work survivors undertake to heal from violence and abuse.

Billie Wade, Guest Writer
By Billie Wade, guest writer and PrairieFire graduate

"Gratitude ushers in a sense of peace, builds a sense of connection, creates a sense that we will be okay, and expands and deepens us even if we only touch it briefly. It happens when we don't take the people and our circumstances for granted...."

Thank you Prairie Meadows!

Jim and Sharon

Thank you to Prairie Meadows for the generous Community Betterment grant. The donation will support a portion of the Center's much needed medical technology upgrades to ensure HIPAA compliance, collect metrics and serve our clients with greater efficiency.  We are grateful for the broad base of community support who help us to keep the lights on and the computers running -- so we may serve people in need of high quality counseling and education, including those who are underinsured or uninsured.

Hello dear friend,

Thanks so much for those of you who played along last month and sent me an email to indicate you made it all the way to the bottom of the email. I enjoyed communicating with you and sending "prizes." Please watch for future fun to come -- for those of you with the fortitude to make it all the way to the bottom. :-) Thank you to you and the lovely community who support the Center's mission of hope and healing.
