This coming Thursday, Oct. 11, join Local 802 and the Society of Composers and Lyricists (NY) for a free, in-depth discussion on the use of metadata in music, featuring Ben Allison, Neeta Ragoowansi, Alan Silverman and Eric V. Hachikian.

This seminar will start by covering some basics: what metadata is, and why it is important to producers and composers. We will then examine some of the challenges and obstacles in metadata notation, ways to ensure accuracy and completeness, and the current state of existing metadata databases. Don't miss this conversation on how to best use metadata to organize music and understand where and how it's being used across the globe.
