Chestertown Marina: Student Art Exhibit

Radcliffe Creek Students will have work on display at the Chestertown Marina during Sultana's Downrigging on November 1-3.  Last year's 7th-grade class created work showing how African American sailors lived and worked during the American Revolutionary War. They worked with several artists to help bring their ideas to fruition. This exhibit has been made possible by the Kent County Arts Council and Arts in Motion. Please come and see the amazing work these students produced for this exhibit.

If you would like to hear more about this exhibit, Mrs. Herron will be interviewed along with the organizers and visiting artists on WKHS 90.5 FM around 1:00 on Tuesday, October 29.

HALLOWEEN AT RADCLIFFE CREEK SCHOOL

Halloween at Radcliffe is fun for a couple of reasons. The first reason is you can bring your costume to school and participate in the parade in the Great Room. If you don't like dressing up or don't want to wear your costume, that is OK too. Another reason Halloween at Radcliffe is fun because we get to rotate through the classrooms to different stations. The teachers plan activities for the kids to enjoy. The final reason Halloween is fun at Radcliffe is because you get to celebrate Halloween with your friends. If you would like to be a part of the Halloween parade in Chestertown on November 2, that is also really fun. Even if you don't like dressing up, Halloween is really fun at Radcliffe. HALLOWEEN PARADE FLOAT

Chestertown Halloween Parade

Students have been busy working on the Halloween Float with Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Herron. Our theme this year is the Legends of the Chesapeake. Students have been building a boat with Mr. Reynolds that will be the centerpiece for the float this year. The float will focus on the cultural and environmental icons of life on the Chesapeake. On Saturday, November 2 at 10:00 am the Chestertown Lions Club will sponsor the annual Chestertown Halloween Parade. Families that are interested in riding or walking along with the RCS Halloween Parade Float need to meet at Dixon Valve parking lot at 9:00 SHARP! All children MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT at ALL times in order to participate in riding on the float! Children may wear their Halloween costumes. Little Creek families are encouraged to join us. If you are interested in attending, please sign up here.  Thank you for your support.

EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION AT RCS

In the 2019-2020 school year, the faculty and staff will focus on and develop our approach to equity, diversity, and inclusion at Radcliffe Creek School.

We are dedicated to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion by creating educational and experiential opportunities, raising awareness, and providing strategies and tools to bring to life the idea of inclusivity. In addition to enhancing the classroom experience to include more lessons on equity, diversity, and inclusion we would also like to invite family and community members to come share their experiences with our students. If your child, your family or someone you know has a tradition, a story of overcoming challenges, or an explanation or display of cultural experiences we would like to invite you to school to share this with our students. We recognize that hearing these stories, and exposing our students to as many life experiences as we can help them develop empathy and kindness.

If you have any other ideas or suggestions or would like to help us fulfill this goal, please contact Julie Blyman. It truly takes a village to foster a community that is built on tolerance, empathy, curiosity, and kindness.  We feel so lucky to have wonderful families to support our students on this journey.
