Hurricane Michael increased in intensity overnight and with winds at approximately 150mph it has now been upgraded to a Category 4. Landfall has just occurred on the Florida Panhandle and the storm's projected path runs through Georgia and the Carolinas.
Tropical storm force winds are expected to arrive overnight tonight and forecasters are predicting between 2-5 inches of rain for the Bald Head Island area by Friday.
BHI Transportation (BHIT) announced that the barge will likely be out of service all day on Thursday, Oct. 11th and ferry service, depending on restrictions issued by the U.S. Coast Guard, could be curtailed at any time throughout the day. F

Property owners are encouraged to monitor the storm's progress and make preparations now for the rain and wind associated with it.
