Top ENR 400 Contractor Saves $2m on Pipe Piling, Sheet Piling, and a Trestle System
Budgeting, bidding, and being awarded for a huge project is a daunting process. Bid too high and you lose the project, bid too low and risk losing your profits.

With new sheet pile and other steel material prices steadily increasing, more and more contractors are purchasing used, offering savings of anywhere between 30% to over 50% depending on material.

Click the button below to read how one of the nation's largest Top ENR 400 Contractors recently decided to do just that by purchasing used material, and how Eiffel Trading saved them over $2M on pipe piling, sheet piling, and a trestle system.
Gannett Fleming Supports PA State Route 30 Recovery

An extraordinary engineering effort minimized disruption caused by the collapse of Route 30 near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Quick thinking by the engineering team that initiated an evacuation just before the collapse likely saved dozens of lives. The long-term closure of the roadway threatened to paralyze the region.

Within 10 days, Gannett Fleming delivered a comprehensive landslide remediation design and bid package—work that usually takes 10 weeks. The effort kicked off construction that reopened the highway in 80 days, instead of the typical two years. Through extraordinary collaboration, the team restored regional mobility in an exceptionally short period of time.
I-4 Extension in Orlando
The junction I-4 and the SR 408 in Orlando, Florida, is the most heavily traveled interchange in Central Florida. The challenge of this project was the need to keep the original interchange open, with the current number of traffic lanes and traffic capacity. Improvements, made by Nucor Skyline , involved twelve structures, including the widening of existing roadways and bridges, plus construction of new bridges, flyover ramps, viaducts, and overpasses. A total of 177,000 feet of driven piles were used on 138 foundations for the twelve structures. The HP 12x53 and 14x89 foundations ranged in size from 3 to 56 piles in a group. The steel H-Piles were allowed for quick reliable construction on a congested jobsite that was stalled due to concrete pile driving problems.
Pieresearch's Alignment Aids for Reinforcing Elements in Deep Foundations and Anchored Earth Support Systems
It is widely accepted that some of the main concerns facing geo-constructors and geotechnical & structural engineers are quality control and quality assurance . Engineers seek confidence that the support systems and deep foundations that they design are built as intended. Geo-constructors strive to deliver a reliable product. The correct placement of grout and/or concrete are key ingredients of successful construction. The use of centralizers and related alignment tools help ensure that foundation and earth support reinforcing elements perform as intended.
