The WHS PTSO and WHS Challenge Success team are pleased to announce that Drs. Anthony Rao and Paul Napper will be returning to WHS for a full presentation on their work on The Power of Agency on Thursday, November 21st at 7pm in the Auditorium.   If you attended the October preview with Drs. Rao and Napper and have any thoughts or questions you would like to have them address in November, please send them to us at [email protected].   For those parents interested, here is the Agency  assessment  prepared by Drs. Rao and Napper that you may take to determine your level of Agency.  (Copies of their book are available for purchase at Wellesley Books).

Looking for Parent S P E L L E R S ... 

The PTSO will be sponsoring a team for the Annual WEF Spelling Bee being held on Wednesday, November 13th at 7pm.  We are looking for three parent volunteers for our team.  This is a fun event and being a great speller is not required.  Come represent the PTSO and enjoy an evening of laughs and fun while at the same time supporting a great cause.  If interested, please email us [email protected] .

Guidance Department highlights ... 

  • October 25th @ 9am in the Faculty Dining Room  - Parent's Coffee with the Director of Guidance. This month, Dana Plunkett will be joined by Kate Mahoney, the Director of Guidance at the Wellesley Middle School for a discussion on Parents: let your kids fail. You'll be doing them a favor.

From our students ...

WHS Junior Class will be hosting two fundraising events -- 
  • On Friday, October 25th, WHS Junior Class will be hosting the Halloween Elementary School Dance in the Wellesley Middle School Cafeteria from 5-7 pm.  The event is for K-3 students.  For more information, please see flyer.  
  • On Thursday, November 14th, from 6 to 8pm, WHS Junior Class will be hosting the Sara Campbell fundraiser. The Junior Class is asking that WHS parents bring their friends to Sara Campbell for 10% off their total, and 10% will go to the grade. If parents cannot attend the event during 6-8 pm, they can mention the WHS Class of 2021 when making any purchase on November 14th, and get the same discount off of their purchases. A Community Gathering & Facilitated Dialogue:  What Are Our Community's Core Values?  Please join town leaders for an evening of sharing and community building on  Tuesday, October 22nd from 7 to 9pm at the Wellesley Community Center, 219 Washington Street.  For more information or to RSVP, please click here.

Wellesley Conservation Council Fall Lecture  (co-sponsored by the Wellesley Free Library):  Dinosaurs, Dunes, and Drifting Continents:  The Amazing Geologic History of Massachusetts, on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7pm in the Wakelin Room, Wellesley Free Library.  For more information, see flyer .

Mother's Group Meeting -   Thursday October 24, 2019 at 9:45am in room  259.  K atie Lynch, WHS Special Education Department, and Maura Renzella, Director of the Wellesley Youth Commission, will facilitate the group.  The meetings offer a forum for parents to discuss issues of mutual interests - school or community related.   All are welcome

Wellesley Middle School - On Thursday, October 24th at 7pm in the WMS Auditorium, Katie Greer, Internet Safety Expert, will speak on Digital Citizenship in a Digital Age.  For more information, please see flyer

Green Collaborative Meeting - Are you ready to go electric?  Can the Town's fleet further electrify?  Can electric school buses in Wellesley be a reality?  This will be discussed on Thursday, October 24th from 9 to 11:15am, Wakelin Room, Wellesley Free Library.  Four speakers participating are:  Anna Vanderspek - Electric Vehicle Program Director of the Green Energy Consumer Alliance, Benjamin Hartford - National Accounts Sales Representative of XL Fleet, Kevin King, School Bus and Transit Sales Manager of Lion Electric, and Kevin Kennedy of our Facilities Management Department.

League of Women Voters and UU Wellesley invite you to "She the People" a conversation with author Jen Deaderick on the "rocky road to full equality for women in the US" on Thursday, October 24th at 7pm at 309 Washington Street. For more information, see flyer.

  • October 19th-26th is Mass STEM Week.  There are many fun and free events happening that week.  For more information, please click here.
  • On November 3, 2019 at 4:30pm in the Wellesley Middle School Auditorium, WEF will be hosting Biz Renick Bracher, PhD, on READY TO LAUNCH: How to prepare your child to leave the nest and land on their feet... in college and beyond. For more information, please click here.
  • On Wednesday, November 13th @7pm in the Sprague School Gym, WEF's 30th Spelling Bee will be taking place.  This is an old school community adult spelling bee which brings the whole town together for an evening of fun and fundraising!   Support the Bee:  Click Here  to make a donation or sponsor a high school, middle school or community team. Bee a team:  Click Here  to register a team of three spellers for $500. Who know s whom you may be spelling again st that night? Deadline for registering a team is October 18th.
