Dear RMDS families
Welcome March, and hello to spring! I look forward to the longer hours of daylight and warmer days.
We have some exciting events happening this month, and I know it seems like I have been saying this every month! However, I am especially excited for the 16
th
of March, as our team will be facilitating a fabulous STEAM day full of fun and educational activities.
Additionally, we will be celebrating our students’ academic achievements by hosting an honor roll assembly; and on the very same day, our Elementary students will participate in a Vocabulary Bee. We welcome families to our hospitality room, where we will be providing drinks and munchies for everyone to enjoy! Please come and join us for a fun-filled morning.
Recent activities among the schools here and across the nation makes us think a great deal about school safety, security and mostly importantly, our students. What I found to be the most profound advice provided in the aftermath of recent tragedies came from a Superintendent in Framingham, Massachusetts. He said and I quote: “We need to reinvest ourselves in our relationship with students and colleagues”. I found these words to be so true. Connecting with our students is very important to our team. Everyone has someone, but we would like to grow the number of connections for some of our students in a positive, supportive, and genuine manner. Simply put...when we connect with others, our self-esteem is boosted and we can perform academically and emotionally at a higher level.
With pride, I want to share with you all, that the staff here at RMDS is amazing. When challenged to make our school a better place for our students to come to learn and work together, they always come up with amazing ideas. Staff members are supportive of each other and are dedicated to RMDS with the highest of expectations and pride.
Furthermore, I am searching for a parent who would be interested in leading our FSSO organization in continuing to provide RMDS families the opportunity to support our school and programs. Please contact me if you are interested.
