MACo's Legislative Committee approved a slate of 2019 legislative initiatives that will have counties working up and down the House and Senate, advocating for important county issues. Ongoing attention on public education and opioid abuse will once again draw focus from county officials and legislators, alike. Continuing the build-out of improved life-saving capacity at county 9-1-1 call centers continues as a MACo focus. And a recent string of court cases inspires a re-look at the nature of state preemption of local authority. MACo, as always, takes the major issues facing county governments and raises them through the state policy process.
