"FUNNY GIRL" at Center Stage Theater in Evergreen

Ovation West Performing Arts (new name for the Evergreen Chorale) is presenting Funny Girl at Center Stage.  This musical tells the life and times of Fanny Brice, from her days as a showgirl in the Ziegfield  Follies to her success on stage and screen. You may remember it as the star vehicle for Barbara Streisand, in which she sang "People Who Need People" and Don't Rain On My Parade."

Jo Ann Dunn has reserved 30 seats for Sunday September 23 at 3:00, and the discount price for a group is $25. each. She needs to have a final count by September 16. You may call her to let her know that you would like to go. and bring a check on the 16th.  Or you could also mail  her a check to:  8525 Armadillo Trail; Evergreen, CO  80439.

One of our local artists, Pem Dunn, has agreed to teach a "Sip and Paint" class in October.  It will be fun for everyone, even if you aren't artistic at all.  More details will be provided later.

You will enter our church name, "United Methodist Church of Evergreen." If you've ordered on Amazon Smile before, your charity name will automatically be registered and you won't get this screen. The church will then receive .5% of your purchase price. This may not seem like much, but it all adds up!

 

Birthday Donations

During the month of your birthday make a donation to the church equal to the number of years you have been on this earth (or any number you are comfortable with). Make a birthday donation for your parents, children or best friend.

Grocery Card Purchases

Purchase a King Soopers or Safeway reloadable gift card at the church. Use it and keep reloading it to buy your groceries and gasoline at King Soopers or Safeway. Buy the grocery cards for family members, friends, service providers, etc. Encourage them tot he reload the cards and use them to purchase their groceries and gasoline. The church makes 5% on grocery card purchases.

EVERGREEN SHELTER PROGRAM (ESP)

2018-19 UPDATE

We are part of a group of five local churches who coordinate in providing overnight emergency shelter facilities during cold nights of winter for those without a place to stay.  This program is staffed by volunteers, and we invite you to take one of the upcoming trainings to be a part of this important community outreach.

Social Principles of the United Methodist Church

In the month of September, we will explore three of The Social Principles of the United Methodist Church, which are adopted every four years and are contained in the Book of Discipline. They connect the United Methodist Church as we express our faith in collaborative practice and our aspirations for the common good in our public policies and personal commitments. Through them, we seek to love God with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength and to desire for our neighbors what we desire for ourselves.

In Adult Education, we continue to study the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church, The Nurturing Community.  We will be discussing one aspect of a Nurturing Community, bullying, which has been identified as a growing societal problem. The United Methodist Church of Evergreen Bulletin states: "We affirm a spirit of openness and hospitality to all, including persons of all races, ages, genders, sexual orientations, financial strata, and abilities who seek a closer walk with God.  Jesus turned no one away and neither will we." Come join us to explore current information about bullying.  Have you ever been bullied? Has your child ever been bullied? Do you know a bully? How can you help the person being bullied? How can you help the bully? What role can our church play in combating bullying and fulfilling our church bulletin statement?
