Leoni Meadows was the location for the Pacific Union Conference Leadership Conference. Student leaders from the conference academies shared ideas and learned leadership skills to take back to their campuses to create a positive and dynamic environment for the new school year.

Leadership on the High School level also takes place in the Faculty Family Groups. All HS students are assigned to a "Family" under the supervision of a specific Faculty member and there are student leaders within each Family. Faculty Families meet together once a month to worship and fellowship. The student leaders receive special training in how to be effective leaders with their groups.

What comes to your mind when you hear "Gotcha" ? For EAA TK-8 students it means "You were noticed showing kindness, good sportsmanship and being helpful...when you thought no one was watching." When a teacher spots this sort of positive behavior, they fill out the Gotcha Form and places them in the Gotcha Pail Mr. Davis shares the contents of the forms at Friday Chapel, and draws winners from TK-5 and 6-8. It is so exciting to see the pail full of Gotchas! Good work EAA students!

, was invited to sing the National Anthem to begin the opening ceremonies at the annual SDG&E employee meeting on Friday, September 27. The event hosted approximately 500 SDG&E employees whose responsibilities ranged from front line workers to top SDG&E executives from all across the San Diego area. Congrats on the honor, Kipper. May you always use your God-given talents with humility and courage.

ach year throughout the US, 600 communities sponsor an event called Walk to End Alzheimer's. On September 28, 4th grader
Payton Chambers
and her family were participants in the North County San Diego Alzheimer's Walk held in Kit Carson Park. The walk raises money to fund research on this disease. For Payton and her family, this is a very personal cause because her Grandmother has Alzheimer's. However, Payton was so happy that Gammie could be present at the Walk. Thanks to the family and friends who helped Team,

take 2nd place and earn a total of $7,139. Thank YOU, Payton, for showing us God's love through your commitment to service for others!

Mariah May Mutya Hardt Class of 2009
May Mutya came to EAA in 2005 and graduated in 2009. She grew up in Oceanside, where she had a great childhood and is still very close to her family. After graduation from EAA, May pursued a degree in Dental Hygiene at Loma Linda University. While at Loma Linda, May met her future husband who was taking Nursing. Her career equipped her for a life dedicated to serving and caring for others. Last March, May married her college sweetheart and they currently live in Escondido. When she is not working, May can be found in the gym or spending time with family and friends. She enjoys being active, hiking and trying new things…especially new restaurants!

I was reminded today at our morning prayer time how amazing God's plans are for us. In 1 Peter 4:10, it says - "
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another."
Each of our students is gifted in a unique and special way. So many times we all try and put our kids into a mold that was not designed for them. The beauty of God's creation is that there are no two that are exactly the same. We are all "fearfully and wonderfully made" in our own unique way.
As we work together to help our students explore and discover the gifts that God has given them, let's allow them to shine for His glory.

I once saw a T-Shirt that read "Parenting Is The Toughest Job You Will Ever Love." As a parent, there have been times when I have been faced with situations that have left me wondering how to help my children become independent and self-confident young adults, but also give them guidance to avoid some of the pitfalls that can derail that growth.
