As of Sept. 1, we surpassed our total number of PYRS rescued in all of last year!!! This is remarkable given we have experienced a number of severe cases, many of which occurred simultaneously. The credit for our success goes directly to our core volunteers, led by our dedicated foster families. Our fantastic board is incredibly hands on and involved and I continue to marvel how many personally will temporarily take in desperate cases that would otherwise be put down. Our transporters, walkers and donors have been passionate in their response when called on. Watching our group at work is truly inspirational.
Bonnie's eight puppies have all gone to outstanding families and our "Winnie the Pooh" puppies are almost all spoken for. We have just taken in two PYRS that will need special attention. Chanel is a puppy that must have been hit by a car and we will be addressing one back leg and a hip on her other side with our orthopedic vet. Olaf is another young PYR with bone issues we are evaluating. Both will be expensive and both would have been put to sle
ep. These two have not yet been posted to our website while we continue to evaluate their conditions.
Please let us know if you are interested in fostering or adopting either.
Our annual Thanksgiving Match will be announced in late October and our anonymous donor will once again step up to match donations. If we rescue 100 more PYRS than last year, that is an extra $130,000, mostly in medical costs, that will be spent over last year. This increased volume makes this year's
campaign critically important. Please help us make this year's Thanksgiving Match a success. More details coming soon.
Thank you,
