Interfaith Caregivers is looking for new volunteers for their JUMP (Jackson United Mentor Program). Volunteers meet one day a week at area schools with one students that they are matched with. Students are looking for a friendly visitor to play games or visit. This year JUMP is celebrating its 20th year of mentoring. To sign up, call Interfaith at 715-284-7058.

Black River Memorial Hospital: Works to Improve Health and Wellness for Local Seniors Becky Windsor, Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH), is teaching Tai Chi for Rehabilitation. This program helps seniors recover from a surgery or an injury. Tai Chi classes begin September 10, 2018. Onward and Upward Chair Yoga helps improve balance and range of motion. This program begins September 20, 2018.

13           Yappy Hour! Fundraiser for Jackson County Animal Shelter. The Sand Creek Brewing Company is proud to co-sponsor a fundraiser for the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Stop on down from 5-7pm to have a pint and some goodies.
13           Jackson in Action: Hunter Fitness Schedule. Levis Mound, hiking 3.5 miles with some interval training, add 5-10 pounds if youd like. Meet at **5:30.
13           Black River Falls Veterans Resource & Benefit Fair! This will be held at the Black River Falls American Legion Post 200 (421 US Hwy 54) from 12-3pm. Contact Randy Bjerke at 715-284-0225.

Trails range from Green Diamond to Double Black Diamond. 100+ miles of scenic, challenging (or easy!) trails in the Midwest. There will be 15 guided groups. 15           Ho Chunk Gaming Black River Falls: Kalliah & BlackWater will be performing on the casino stage from 8pm-midnight.
15           Black River Youth Hockey: 4 Person Golf Scramble at Skyline. Registration is at 11, 12pm shotgun start, $55/person or $35/Skyline Member includes 18 holes, a cart and meal afterward. 17           Black River Memorial Hospital: Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid class will be held in the Dorothy Halvorson Conference Room from 9am-4pm. Registration is $85 and $10 for the book. Registration is required. Call Michaela at 715-284-3626.
17           Lunda Community Center: Silver Sneakers by Tivity Health. This new class will start September 17, instructed by Lori Dolsey. It will be held Monday and Wednesday from 9-10am. Increase muscle strength, range of movement, and improve activities for daily living. Members cost is $3 and nonmembers is $6.
17           Black River Falls Public Library: Friends of the Library Meeting at 530 pm. New Members are welcome.
18           Black River Memorial Hospital is Building confidence and Reducing Falls for older Adults. Class will be held Tuesdays, Aug 7-Sept 18 from 930-1130 AM at the Lunda Community Center. Participants will see fall prevention products and leave with more strength, better balance, and confidence in independent living. This is an ideal class for people who walk with or without a cane or walker and are living on their own. Research shows people who complete this class reduce their chances of falling by thirty-one percent!

19        Internships and Apprenticeships Workshop: The 7 Rivers Alliance, Cooperative Educational Service Agency #4 and Viterbo Unitversity are co-sponsoring a workshop focusing on internships. The workshop will include presentations and panel discussion with local experts, employers and employees. This will be held at the Cranberry County Lodge in Tomah from 9AM-Noon.
