Leveraging Teacher Leadership in Collaborative TeamsTL

The Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession (CSTP) is partnering with NorthEast Washington ESD 101 to offer the course Leveraging Teacher Leadership in Collaborative Teams. This opportunity is geared towards schools and/or district teams striving to establish a successful model for continuous improvement and strengthen PLCs.

Effective PLCs start with developing relationships and structures to support adult learning.  Participants will reflect on current PLCs structures and explore how to create and maintain a high functioning environment for professional learning. Building on CSTP's Teacher Leadership Framework, participants will delve into this work from a case study perspective to learn about culture, risk-taking and impact on student learning.

Maximize this experience by attending with a team of teachers and administrators. Come ready to share PLC experiences, questions and dilemmas to practice learning from each other.

Participants will leave this session with a solid foundation for understanding teacher leadership with a focus on systems thinking and leading with an equity lens and implementing changes utilizing improvement science.

Cost: $125

CSTP is excited to partner with OSPI's Special Education Division on the Inclusionary Practices Professional Development Project, which has come about with the passage of HB 1109 that provides $25 million of state funding for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years to increase inclusionary practices across the state. Inclusion is the belief and practice that all students have the right to meaningfully access academic and social opportunities in the general education setting. The project involves several parts including the development and delivery of professional development for different roles in the education system, demonstration sites of inclusionary best practices and deeper implementation work in selected pilot districts across the state. The work is just beginning this school year so stayed tuned for more updates and opportunities. Read this for more information on the Inclusionary Practices Professional Development Project.
