E-ZPass transponders have lithium batteries inside that require proper disposal. Instead of the trash, you should return your old transponder(s) to one of the E-ZPass Maryland Customer Service Centers listed below, where drop boxes will be located (Service Center addresses HERE):

Opioid Awareness and Naloxone Administration Training

Howard Community College's Health Sciences Division has partnered with the Howard County Health Department to offer free opioid awareness and abuse training. The training will include education on the administration of Naloxone, which is commonly known as Narcan and can reverse an opioid overdose. More info.

Resident Architectural Committee (RAC)
The RAC meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. The next RAC meeting will be held on  Thursday, September 20th at 7:30 p.m. at the Other Barn. Sign-in begins at 7:00 p.m. A list of applications for the meeting can be found here .

Oakland Mills Board Accepting Donation Requests from Non-Profit 501C (3) Organizations
Each year the Oakland Mills Community Association sets aside funds in the annual budget for donations to non-profit 501C (3) organizations including schools and qualifying groups. The board will review requests and consider donations that will be used to benefit the common good of the Oakland Mills Community.
 
PROCEDURE:  Please review the attached Oakland Mills Community Association Policy - OMCA DONATION POLICY 
 
IMPORTANT DATES:
October 15th:  Donation requests must be made in writing and submitted to the Oakland Mills Board of Directors no later than October 15th of each year.  See attached policy for submission details.
 
October 23, 2018:  The Oakland Mills Board will review all donation requests at the Oakland Mills Board of Directors meeting.  This is an open meeting.    
 
November 13, 2018:  The Oakland Mills Board will vote on the requests at the Oakland Mills Board of Directors meeting.  This is an open meeting.  
 
All donation will be made in a fair and equitable manner.

Exploring Columbia on Foot 
Columbia Association's (CA) series of outdoor walks explores the lakes, streams, woodlands and wildlife of Columbia. Each walk is about two miles long, with four to five stops along the way. Registration is not required.

The walks are led by award-winning environmental author Ned Tillman, who guides discussions on the nature, history and future of these wonderful outdoor settings, including the plans for them and challenges they may face in the near future.

Earlier start times for upcoming CA Board of Directors work sessions and meetings
Columbia Association's (CA) Board of Directors will hold several upcoming work sessions and meetings at 7pm - half an hour earlier than usual - due to the anticipated amount of time needed to cover agenda items.
The list of CA Board work sessions and meetings that will convene at 7pm are:
  • Thursday, September 13 - CA Board work session
  • Thursday, September 27 - CA Board meeting
  • Thursday, October 11 - CA Board work session
  • Thursday, October 25 - CA Board meeting

CA BikeAbout Seeking Volunteers!

CA is looking for a few Oakland Mills residents who can be stationed at a stop in Oakland Mills and provide historical information about the village. Youth and Teen Center @TheBarn

16th annual Hear My Voice Teen Day & Columbia Teen Idol Competition
You could be Columbia's next Teen Idol! The competition is open to Howard County performers in grades six through 12. No music is necessary for the auditions. Note: Explicit lyrics are not permitted.

Three auditions will be held at The Barn, 5853 Robert Oliver Place, at 6:30pm on:
  • Wednesday, September 12 
  • Wednesday, September 19
  • Wednesday, September 26
A fourth audition is scheduled for 7pm on Thursday, September 27 at Lord & Taylor at The Mall in Columbia.

Register to audition by visiting ColubmiaAssoication.org/teenidol. Top performers will advance to the semifinals; the date and location will be announced later. The finale will be held on Sunday, October 14th at 3 p.m. at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront.

The Choice Jobs Program prepares Maryland's youth for the
work world. The program utilizes a supported employment model
that delivers community-based vocational services that include a
job readiness curriculum, individualized service planning, and
