CITY OF FOSTORIA ISSUES
PROPOSED ORDINANCE
ELECTRIC AGGREGATION
Passage of the proposed ordinance would give the City of Fostoria authority to aggregate the retail electric loads located in the city, and for that purpose, enter into service agreements to facilitate for those loads the sale and purchase of electricity, such aggregations to occur automatically except where any person elects to opt out.

Overview of Municipal Aggregation:
Municipal aggregation allows local governments to procure power on behalf of their residents, businesses, and municipal accounts from an alternative supplier while still receiving transmission and distribution service from their existing utility provider. By aggregating demand, communities may gain leverage to negotiate better rates with competitive suppliers and possibly choose greener power sources. Those within the municipality will be automatically enrolled in the aggregation unless they opt out.
