The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine recently released a new report on Guiding Cancer Control: A Path to Transformation. Several members of the Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partnership participated in developing the report, which describes the current structure of cancer control from a local to global scale, identifies necessary goals for the system, and formulates the path towards integrated disease control systems and a cancer-free future.
CANCER CONTROL SPOTLIGHT
Many cancer patients in Kansas have limited access to palliative and end-of-life care. In response to the need to improve palliative care across the state, the Palliative Care Program at the University of Kansas Hospital implemented institutional and statewide End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium Training. This intervention led to an increased number of certified palliative care providers around the state and increased capacity for evaluation due to the development of a palliative care module for the Kansas Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. Learn more about this program from Action4PSEChange.org.
