T he latest news from the Virginia Department of Transportation on plans to improve
Richmond Highway (Route 1) from Jeff Todd Way to Napper Road in Fairfax County
Join us for a public information meeting on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. ( presentation will begin at 7 p.m.) at  Mount Vernon High School , 8515 Mount Vernon Road, Alexandria, VA 22309.

The project is currently in preliminary design and this meeting is an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to:
  • Learn about the project, review preliminary design plans
  • Attend the presentation, discuss your questions with the project team
  • Submit comments about the project 
  • Widen Richmond Highway from four to six lanes
  • Provide separate bicycle and pedestrian accommodations on both sides of the road
  • Preserve the median width necessary to accommodate Fairfax County's future Bus Rapid Transit plans for dedicated bus-only lanes
The BRT will not be constructed as part of this project, but is being administered by Fairfax County as part of the  Embark Richmond Highway initiative. VDOT and Fairfax County will continue to coordinate as both projects move forward.
