Delta Township Receives Certification for Energy Sustainability
 Delta Township participated in the Michigan Green Communities (MGC) Challenge in 2018 and received a Silver certification. Silver is the second highest certification a community can receive. Certifications are based on commitment to reducing energy use and creating innovative sustainability initiatives. The MGC is a program through the Michigan Municipal League Foundation. Delta Township is proud to receive this designation.

Largest Tracking Solar Array in Michigan Opens in Delta
Supervisor Kenneth R. Fletcher welcomed nearly 100 people at a ribbon cutting of the largest tracking solar array in Michigan, which is located in Delta Township. Representatives from
Lansing Board of Water and Light (LBWL)
, CMS Energy Enterprises, and EDF Renewables were on hand for the ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the 24 MW solar array.
The power generated will flow from the solar arrays to the Lansing Board of Water and Light's Canal Road Substation in Delta Township and will serve homes, farms, and businesses both in Delta Township and the greater Lansing region.

Update: Tree Trimming in Delta
The tree trimming being conducted throughout the Township by the Lansing Board of Water and Light is expected to be completed by spring of 2019. The tree trimming began this past spring and was an effort to help prevent future disruptions in power services or damage to power lines.

- Show & Tell Nature Walk - Sunday, September 9 at 2:00 p.m. Join us for a participatory nature walk as we explore the plants and wildlife at Hawk Meadow Park. The walk will have a leader but we invite all walkers to be active participants and share their knowledge. Please wear good walking shoes and bring water. Walks will start promptly at the scheduled time and will last approximately an hour. Walks are suitable for the entire family and children will be given a nature log to record their findings. In case of inclement weather, the walk will be cancelled.

Drop-in Pint-Sized Picassos -
This program is held in the Delta Township Enrichment Center on Thursdays, September 20-October 25 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Let us provide the materials and clean-up while your child provides the creativity. There will be at least three different projects each week. The easels will also be available every week for the children to use. The cost is $1 per child, per week, adults are free. No need to register in advance.
Parent Participation is required.

Delta Township Community Awards 2018 Call for Nominations
The Delta Township Community Awards Committee is seeking nominations in each of the following four categories:
The Citizen of the Year Award will honor selected individual citizens whose extraordinary contributions go "above and beyond" to enhance the quality of life and general reputation of the township.
The Young Person of the Year Award is limited to high school seniors (whether traditional high school or home-schooled) who have made a positive contribution to the community, is an example to their friends, may have excelled in academics, music, arts, athletics, etc., or has successfully faced personal challenges. A $2,000 scholarship, sponsored by the Delta Side Business Association, will be awarded to the selected individual.
The Community Organization of the Year Award will honor selected groups or organizations for their dedication in serving and promoting Delta Township through volunteer contributions that has impacted the quality of life in Delta Township, provided leadership over a period of years, thereby contributing to the township's character, and/or made a valuable contribution that has enhanced the quality of life for residents of Delta Township.
The Business of the Year Award will honor selected Delta Township businesses or business persons who have been responsible for exceptional outcomes between and among businesses, governments, and nonprofit organizations; OR, have served as a role model for other business; OR, have gone above and beyond the scope of business to support and promote Delta Township. The goal is to promote shared community interests and encourage business harmony within the township and among entities of the Greater Lansing Region.

Need a Passport? Delta Township Accepts Passport Application
 The Delta Township Clerk's office accepts passport applications year around during regular office hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Clerk's Office is offering passport drives during 2018. One picture is required when submitting a passport application (Form DS-11 ONLY) and can be obtained at the Clerk's Office for a $12.00 fee. If you are in need of a new passport, or to renew your existing passport, and find it difficult to get to our office during regular office hours, mark your calendar. The Clerk's Office will be open to accept passport applications (Form DS-11 ONLY) on the following dates in 2018:
- Wed., Sept. 12 - 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Thur., Sept. 20 - 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Tues., Oct. 2 - 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Take advantage of this Delta Township sponsored program that was created to aid residential neighborhoods in improving their identification and welcome signs as part of the Township's goal to help create community identity, neighborhood involvement, and encourage and maintain the character of residential neighborhoods.
