The Me Museum
Bethlehem Elementary students in Ms. Newsom's class created "Me Museums" to introduce themselves to their classmates and others in the school. Students brought three items from home that would best describe or tell about themselves. They wrote about their items in class and created displays to showcase their project. Students practiced presenting, listening and speaking skills while presenting to classmates. Special guests, students and teachers, were invited to a special Me Museum presentation. See pictures.
Stars and Stripes
National Guard soldier and former County Line Elementary student, Joel Padgett, came to CLES to teach the 5th grade flag team little known facts about our American flag. Students also learned how to raise, lower and fold our great symbol of freedom.
Did you know the current flag, with 50 stars and 13 stripes, was designed in 1958 by 17-year-old high school student, Robert G. Heft, of Lancaster, Ohio. President Dwight D. Eisenhower chose his design out of 1,500 entries.
