he Lord gave a vision to me as I was listening to a speaker. The vision came as I heard the speaker say "wave of Hope" and while he was sharing what he was feeling for this new year of 5780 on the Hebraic calendar. In the vision I saw a huge ocean wave with the word HOPE written across it. As the Lord began to amplify it to my spirit, I heard Him say "Catch the wave!" Being from California, as well as from the "Beach Boys" era, I knew the importance of this term. It wasn't just that there was going to be a "wave of Hope" sent our way from Heaven, but that we had an important part to play in it! Just as surfers need to position themselves to catch the wave that will carry them on their surfboards, we need to position ourselves as well!
Firstly, for there to be a "wave of Hope" we need to recognize we will be in an ocean of situations where we will need that wave of hope. We should not be surprised with the necessity of hope when we are experiencing the acceleration of both good and evil. We can't be caught unaware and unprepared.
Secondly, during calamity and bad reports, we need to position ourselves for HOPE! He has promised it, so we are to look for it! Start training yourselves NOW to look for His hand in every situation! Expect His "way of escape" (of the undercurrent) and the ability to ride the wave! We need to let the wave, which was meant to come crashing down upon us, to carry us instead! I love the Amplified Classic translation of 1 Cor 10:13. "For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin, no matter how it comes or where it leads) has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man (that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not adjusted and adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear). But God is faithful (to His Word and to His compassionate nature), and He can be trusted not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will always also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently."
(Note that Satan can't pull something from his "supernatural bag of tricks" to use on us! It has to be common to man and not beyond the ability to resist! Please also note that it does not say that God brought the temptation or trial upon you! James 1:13 tells us God is incapable of being tempted and He Himself tempts no one! Life happens! There is evil in this world because it is fallen, and it needs a Savior. There is also an enemy that comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).
But God is faithful! HE IS FAITHFUL to His Word! We need to stand on the surfboard of the Word so it can carry us when the pressure is on! How can the precious Holy Spirit of God bring to our remembrance the scripture we need during the problem if we don't have it in us? (Jesus defeated the enemy with, "It is written...". We need to do the same!)
He is also FAITHFUL to His compassionate nature! We need to know that He loves us! He is not beating us up (like the lie we are tempted to believe tells us)! He is wanting to help us!
Thirdly, look for the way in which you can rise above it! He sees what is happening and with every temptation and trial, He makes sure we have a way of escape from what would pull us down! Most of the time it is our flesh that is getting us into trouble! Get mileage out of the situation. Let's let the temptation reveal what's in us which still needs to be cleansed. When it's revealed, let's cry out to the Lord for deliverance, repent and let it go! As we depend on Him, hope and strength will come!
Fourthly, Live one day at a time! Don't take on all the waves! "Do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble." (Matt 6:34 AMPC) His Grace is sufficient for each day.
And fifthly, the surfer stays in shape! Keep paddling with praise! Read James 1:2-4 in the Amplified classic translation! It shows us that if we count it wholly joyful when we encounter trials, we will build endurance and we will lack nothing! Wow! Philippians 4:4 reminds us to rejoice always! Praise will keep us positioned for HOPE for we are expecting God's goodness to be seen!
It's looking for the perfect wave on which we can ride the distance! But it takes many waves learning to praise and trust as we build the endurance needed to finish our course. It's the wave of Hope not only for this year but this next decade we are entering!
