It's hard to believe that summer vacation has ended and we are already one week into our seventeenth school year. The faculty and staff were very excited to welcome our 71 students
(our largest enrollment in our school's history) on the first day of school and all are looking forward to another great year! The first day of school is always very exciting and is one of my favorite times of the year.
We started our new school year with two new teachers. Mrs. Alissa Burns joins the school in her position as a Science instructor and Ms. Christina Buttigieg in her capacity as our Social Studies teacher. They will complement our existing staff of hard working and dedicated faith filled professionals concerned with the needs of the students that God has entrusted to our care.
The eighteen young men who form our seventeenth class are enjoying their first week of school in spite of the excessive heat wave. They actually began their De La Salle School experience together on Thursday, 23 August when they gathered for an orientation program and to meet their eighth-grade big brothers. Part of the evening involved pairing an eighth-grade student with a fifth-grade student who they will mentor and help acclimate to the culture of our school and their new Lasallian family. The eighth-grade buddies have taken the time to get to know their little brothers and each will take a turn during morning assembly to introduce their buddy to the entire school community.
Please pray that God will continue to show favor on all those involved in The De La Salle School and that our seventeenth year of providing a quality Catholic education in the Lasallian tradition be a year as rich as our past and one that is filled with many blessings!
Respectfully in our brother, Saint La Salle,
