Healthy Schools Network (HSN)
Healthy Schools BC school level grants return in October 2017

We are pleased to announce that school grants that support healthy living will be returning next school year.

It's a fresh start and includes a new overarching theme: Well-Being in a Real-World Context. We know BC schools understand the central role mental well-being plays both in fostering optimal environments for learning, and in engaging students as they develop their skills and explore their passions. Mental well-being is a key foundation for student health, well-being and success.

HSN school level grants   will encourage grantees to connect their work to two overarching questions:

How is it feasible to promote mental well-being through all environments that promote student learning, growth, and success? How does mental well-being impact the 'whole child'?

Stayed tuned and check back in here September and October, 2017.

We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.

School Connectedness
What's Your Favourite Flavour?
Promoting mental well-being in schools

When people talk about supporting and promoting mental well-being in schools, they usually discuss the practices they use in their environment. Some people are focused on school
connectedness, others on social-emotional learning, others on  resilience, mental fitness, o r another approach.

While each of these approaches has its own  flavour, they are all part of the larger family of pos itive mental health supportive  practices. They overlap and work  side-by-side, each strengthening the impact of the others.  Click here to read more.
