Welcome Carl Floto to UPC Staff

We are pleased to welcome Carl Floto to UPC as Financial Manager (part-time). Carl is the Director of Fiance at our service partner Manos de Cristo, and currently serves as Treasurer at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church.

Sandie and Trudi have graciously agreed to train Carl in the ways of UPC finance over the next few weeks, until Sandie retires in mid-April (more on celebration of Sandie's 10 years of service to UPC a bit later.)

If you're in the church office in the next few weeks, and Carl's in training, stop by and say hi!

A Bit about Carl

"I’ve attended Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian for 17+ years; my wife of nine years has been an Elder at SHPC; I currently serve as Treasurer, Elder and teach 5th grade Sunday School on Sunday mornings.  David Evans is one of our favorite Pastors!

My wife Ruth Ann is the Advanced Placement US History teacher and Department Head at Bowie High School; she has been at Bowie for 24 years!

Ruth Ann and I have 5 children between us – Grace 16 year old junior at Bowie, 22 year old Michael Sr. at TAMU- Chemistry, 24 year old Marianna – married serving on Campus Crusade staff in Athens, Greece, 26 year old David USAF Kirtland AFB Command Post Albuquerque, NM and 28 year old Emily – CPA with KPMG in Zürich, Switzerland.

It was great to meet my new UPC best friends today, especially Sandie and Trudi - I hope they like me a lot and want to teach me everything they know!!  (do they like cookies; maybe I should bring them cookies?!)"

a Conversation about Immigration

May 7, following worship
UPC Great Hall
The UPC Social Witness Committee has been working with the Faith & Life Class and other groups and classes in the church to learn more about immigration. We will conclude our work in this area with a luncheon and deliberative dialogue with members of UPC about what action we can take as individuals and as a community of faith. We will begin with a light lunch and a panel presentation but the majority of the two hours will be spent listening to YOU, the members of UPC.
  • What are your feelings about this issue?
  • What action do you think we should take as individuals?
    As a congregation?

Your input will be incorporated into our Committee's final report to the Session. Please join us on Sunday, May 7 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
