Prankster extraordinaire Mac Barnett will be returning to An Unlikely Story accompanied by illustrator Mike Lowery to introduce their hilarious new book, Mac B., Kid Spy: Mac Undercover, which may or may not be fiction. You'll have to decide... What I'm about to share with you is 100% confidential and 100% true (maybe): before New York Times bestseller Mac Barnett was an author, he was a kid. And while he was a kid, he was a spy. Not just any spy-but a spy for Her Majesty the Queen of England. Mac and Mike will talk about their new book, and Mike will demonstrate his drawing skills. After audience questions, they'll sign books!

Bookseller Recommendations

Kym recommends:
WOW! Karin Slaughter hit it out of the park with this one. I loved the building story about Andrea and her mother, Laura, after her mother takes down a mall shooter before he can shoot her daughter. The secrets are revealed slowly and tantalizingly, but never giving too much away. I loved both characters, and was hooked all the way to the satisfying ending. I'm sure this is going to be at the top of all the "Must-Read" lists this fall.
Bonnie recommends:
If you're a fan of memoirs, this one is a must! Abdi Nor Iftin, a recent immigrant from Somalia, is an exceedingly positive, open-minded, ambitious and amazing man. Currently living in Portland, ME, he details his tumultuous life in war-torn Somalia, secretly learning English and American culture through movies (he even became know as "Abdi American!"), and as an unwelcome refugee in Kenya, before literally "winning the lottery" to come to the U.S. What Abdi has experienced and accomplished in his life is a testament to love, hard work and determination ... he -- and his book -- are truly inspirational.
Caitlin recommends:
Part-travelogue and part-memoir, Elkin details her time traveling-to and living in New York, London, Tokyo, Venice, and Paris. You'll want to pack your bags and travel after reading this one!
