One day this week, the parent of an OLQP school graduate stopped by to donate some gently used uniform articles. Her son graduated from OLQP years ago and is now a student at Texas A&M University. The mom was so happy to see Mrs. Brewster who remembered her son. As the conversation went, the mom shared the names of all the OLQP classmates who are still friends with her son and attend the university together.

                That reminds me of my own Catholic school experience. The friends I made during my grade school years at St. Christopher's are still my friends today. We have stayed in touch through high school and college, weddings and funerals, and everything in-between.

                This is one of the great gifts of being part of a small, Catholic community. The friendships that the students make become family friendships, and they last a lifetime. All of the things that bring us together now - daily prayer, sports, open house events, Fall Festivals, Christmas programs, Mass, Living Stations, and such- cement the bonds that stay true over the years.
