Dear Holy Name Families,
As we move onward through October, many opportunities for service are beginning to arrive! Please remember that when the community works together, everyone benefits, but mostly, the children! Please contact the committees for Fright Fest, the Auction, or just your Head Room Parents to learn more about how you can help!
A huge thank you to Miss Herrera, who completed the HN framed bottle cap reuse art project! It is currently hanging by the computer room! It is wonderful tribute to recycling and Panther Pride! A big thank you too to Mr. McLaughlin, who assisted with hanging the art piece.
A KIND REMINDER... please eliminate the use of private online chat rooms for parents in classes for side conversations. This sets up ineffective communication options between parents, teachers, and the parish community...we need to set an example for the students in the school...if discussions need to take place, please use face-to-face conversations. Thank you.
--Mr. Miller, Principal

WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR, FATHER ARNOLD
October 8, 2019
Kindness is just a simple gesture.
Yet such a powerful asset.
It can touch hearts and even change lives.
Keep on being kind and inspire others so that GOD will enrich you.
From nothing to something, from something to everything and from everything to overflowing.
I wish you enough of everything..
Have a grace filled days ahead!
-Fr. Arnold

Halloween is coming soon!
|
Holy Name students may wear costumes to school Thursday, October 31. But before parents go out looking for costumes, please keep in mind...
...they must be simple so that the children can sit in their desks and can go to the restroom.
...Costumes should be in good taste and appropriate for a Catholic school.
...Costumes are NOT allowed if:
- show disfigurement of the human face or body
- imitate music groups or political groups that advocate violence
- depict “creepy clowns”
- have "weapons"
- are not modest
...All must use sensitivity towards people of other cultures and those less fortunate.
Any child who comes to school with an inappropriate costume will be sent home to change. If children choose NOT to wear costumes, they must wear their school uniform.

People are hungry in our community. Even if employed, people earning minimum wage cannot afford both rent and food. People who are unhoused need not only a meal, but a place to feel welcomed. Hope’s Corner is addressing these needs every Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. by providing a nutritious breakfast and providing a bag lunch for each person to take. In addition, we began offering free showers on Saturday mornings in August 2015. Our numbers have grown from a few dozen in our beginning in 2011 to now serving over 200 people every Saturday. Besides food, we provide a place for people to feel welcomed and build community. We collaborate with Second Harvest Food Bank, Community Services Agency, Peninsula Food Runners, Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange and others to help the people we serve connect with other available services.

LUNCH & SNACK TRASH
In the hopes to more properly dispose of recycling, compost, and trash, we will be asking students who bring their lunch to school in lunch boxes or bags, to bring home the used containers, baggies, juice boxes, etc.
Please discuss with your kids as well the importance of taking care of our planet, by first taking care of our trash properly at school.
Thank you!
