"What We Leave Behind"
In 40,000 years what will remain of us, our culture, our way of life? What is our legacy? Civilizations, empires, governments and institutions rise and fall, but what remains are the ideas, stories, songs, sculptures, and the art that was created. This is what we'll be exploring during this hour together. Through the lens of music we'll look at vibrations, ancient flutes, pentatonic scales and space vehicles carrying messages to the stars. What do those things have in common? Come and see.

Join Us for Worship This Sunday!
Sunday, October 27 at 10 a.m.

Worship Leader: Rev. Patricia Hart, Developmental Senior Minister

Worship Associate:  Maeve McBride

"Widening the Circle"
Cultures define what is normal and what is not - whose voices dominate, what ideas are more important than others. And, it is possible to expand the edges of the circles we live within to include ideas and values that are right nearby but too often unseen. This morning we will highlight the Society's connection with Vermont Interfaith Action, and reflect on how partnerships help to grow this congregation's circle.

Emma's Revolution Benefit Concert
You are invited to a concert by award-winning Emma's Revolution on  Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the First UU Meeting House. This event is sponsored by First UU, Peace & Justice Center, and Front Porch Forum, and will benefit Vermont Interfaith Action, Migrant Justice, Gun Sense VT, and Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism.

Tickets are $22 Advance/$28 Door (no one turned away), available at  emmasrevolution.com or at the Peace & Justice Center, 60 Lake St, Burlington.

Halloween Parade
Erika Reif, Director of Lifespan Faith Development

Join us Sunday, October 27, for a Halloween parade to the Cathedral Square Assisted Living Center! Children, youth, and any adults who care to join, come spread some autumnal cheer to those who can't get out for fall fun. Come in costume or grab something from our pile of extras. We're headed out right after the Reflection for All Ages and then back in time for cider and cider donuts in the Whitney Young, Jr. Room at 11:15.  Children preschool age and younger must bring a parent along!

FUUSB Together Autumn Auction

Announcing the return of the service auction,  now called the FUUSB Together Autumn Auction.

The auction this year will be focused on building connections in the FUUSB community. We are looking for donations of events, services, lessons, and activities. These could range from the ever popular dinner parties, to other gatherings that bring UUs together like game nights and sledding parties. Also popular are lessons (piano, skiing, kayaking, needlepoint, etc.), lawn mowing, dog sitting, knife sharpening, special order cakes and anything else you're good at that other people might not even know you do. We are encouraging any donations of physical items like art and gifts wait until the Holiday Bazaar in December.

The Auction will be held in November.
Donations can be made with the donation form available on Sundays or online at togetherauction.com/fuusb
(The web address is case-sensitive.)
A catalog of items available for auction will be published on November 10.
Register for your bidding number on November 17 when bidding will open at Noon!
All bidding will close on the 17th at 1:00.
FREE Soup Luncheon served in the Community Room on November 17.

We encourage all participants to gather downstairs on the 17th for FREE soup and snacks provided by the 6th grade Boston trip. We will tally the winners of each auction item on the 17th so you will know what you've won when you're done with your soup. We will also collect payment for the auction items on the 17th (cash, check, or credit card).

If you have questions, please contact
or any member of the board.

From the Immigration Justice Team
Kim Watkin

An asylum-seeking mother (fluent English speaking) and preschool daughter continue to be in need of longer-term housing in Burlington. Donated space would be wonderful or very low rent would be another good option. It would be ideal for housing to be in Burlington near a bus line. The need for longer-term housing is our first concern at this time, but financial contributions are also needed to support the family in other ways, such as food, clothing, transportation, phone etc. Please see a member of the Immigration Justice Team at the big round table in the Parlors after the service on Sunday if you would like more information OR contact Carolyn Smiles at  csmiles1974@gmail.com .

Library Help Needed
