SHOE POLICY - Please Read

Please remember to have your child wear athletic style shoes/sneakers that fully enclose the foot to school (no boots, Mary Janes, Mary Jane sneakers, ballet shoes, deck shoes, mules, wedges, penny loafers, sandals, dress shoes, crocs, flip flops). The shoe must tie or have Velcro so that the shoe fits snugly on the foot.

Without appropriate shoes, the children will not
be able to go onto the west playground.

Please let me know if you have any questions. If
you are not sure if your child's shoe meets the
school's policy, please see me.

Thank you for your help in keeping the children safe!

Morning Drop Off

A couple tips to make that big drop-off just a little bit easier; for everyone:
  • For the safety of our students, we ask that parents and siblings please do not linger in the "Big Room" during morning drop-off. This will eliminate unnecessary noise while our teachers are trying to transition students to their classes.  It is difficult to differentiate who is in before-care and who is being escorted in by their parents during morning drop-off. Instead, choose a quick, consistent drop-off plan and stick with it. Keep it positive, confident and no-nonsense. One hug, a fist-bump, turn and walk. If you are dropping off a young child, you might want to have a simple script ready. Something along the lines of "It's time for me to say 'goodbye'. I love you. I will be right here at pick-up time." A goodbye ritual that can be counted on will help both you and your child feel secure and transition more smoothly. If you are feeling uneasy, please feel free to call the school in 15-20 minutes to ask how your child is doing. Chances are, he/she settled within a few minutes.
  • The teachers and administrators are trained to deal with transitions. Another option for parents to ease the transition is to use our drop-off service and have your child escorted by one of our safety patrols. The sooner your child recognizes with certainty that school is safe, inspiring, and supportive; the sooner he/she will settle in and get down to the task of learning!
We are glad to have such supportive families, dedicated staff and interested, engaged students. We have an amazing community and we are off to a great start for 2018 - 2019!

Fundraiser Spotlight

One of our 7th grade students, Stasi Wang, is conducting a fundraiser this school year for Malala Fund, an organization which breaks down the barriers preventing more than 130 million girls around the world from going to school.

Please join Stasi in making handmade goods, such as jewelry, sewing projects, tie-dyed items or other crafts, to sell throughout the year. All money earned will be donated to Malala Fund at the end of the school year.

Read Stasi's letter for more information on how you can help.
