VOLUNTEER SIGN UP

Thank you VERY much for those of you who have worked at the AGF in the past! We are again recruiting and coordinating volunteers from UMCE. Once again this year, we are providing a central sign up website using SignUpGenius.  This way, at one time, you can see all the open volunteer opportunities and time slots.  As in the past, you may volunteer for Set-Up, Clean-Up, Cashier, Cashier Support, Volunteer Check-In, Van Driver, Parking Lot Attendant, Safety Assistant (medical person) and more! We need your help to make the Fair a success again this year!!
THE SOONER YOU SIGN UP, THE MORE CHOICE IN JOBS YOU WILL HAVE!

The AGF SignUpGenius link is live and available for volunteer signup. It's easy to sign up online yourself at  www.gifttwice.org.

To sign up online:
  1. Go to the AGF website www.gifttwice.org, then click on the "Volunteer" tab on the menu bar at the top, which will take you to a link to the SignupGenius website for the AGF.
  2. Review the volunteer jobs, the dates and time slots and then click the "Sign Up" button for job or jobs you select.  This will result in a check mark (√).  Repeat this for each job for which you wish to volunteer.
  3. When you have clicked all the jobs you want to volunteer for, please click the green "Submit and Sign Up" button at the bottom of the page.  You do not need to set up a SignUpGenius account to volunteer at the AGF.
  4. You will be taken to a place to enter information about yourself.  Please:
    1. Enter your name, email, phone number and any other required information (THIS IS ESSENTIAL FOR US TO BE ABLE TO REACH YOU WITH REMINDERS AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION);
    2. Click to show your affiliation with the United Methodist Church of Evergreen; and
    3. Do not sign up as a group using just one person's name.  We need the info for each separate volunteer so we can reach him/her if there are changes.
  1. Click "Sign Up Now!" to complete the sign up process.
  2. Click "Back to Sign Up" and  repeat the first two steps to be sure you are shown for the jobs you wanted
  3. Close out SignUpGenius.
  4. You should receive an email confirming the jobs you are signed up for.  You will also receive reminders and important information as we get close to November 9 and 10.
Questions? Please call, email or visit Bill Graf at 303-246-8330 and bill@billgraf.net.

NEW OFFICE MANAGER - JESSICA COONS

{As previously announced, office manager, Allison Caldwell, is moving with her family to Florida because of a job change for her husband.  We send her off with much appreciation and love.}

The UMCE Staff Parish Relations Team is happy to announce that Jessica Coons has accepted the role of serving as our church office manager.  She is currently beginning her transition into this role, and will be training alongside Allison over the next week.  Jessica will formally begin as office manager on Monday, October 7, as Allison's last day with us is Friday, October 4.

During the interview process, Jessica's outgoing personality and ability to prioritize important tasks stood out.  She brings a wealth of experience to this position, and we are truly lucky to have her join our staff.   In addition, Jessica already knows our church well, as she has a child in the Great Escape preschool.

If you have any questions about this transition, please don't hesitate to reach out to Pastor Deb or me.

Andrew Zapotoczny

The Coons family enjoys hiking, going to Elitch Gardens, and swimming. They also have a 9 month old puppy, Emma.

2019 PURA VIDA MINISTRIES ANNUAL GALA
Friday, November 1st at 6:00 pm

Pura Vida Ministries will hold a Benefit Dinner and Celebration on Friday, November 1st at the Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood, Colorado. The gathering will provide an opportunity to join in the celebration of the continued success of Pura Vida's Guatemala ministries.

The evening includes a reception at 6:00pm, dinner at 7:30pm, and a program presentation on Pura Vida's mission. There will also be a silent auction and time to mingle with others who've participated in Pura Vida's success.

Pura Vida Ministries is currently providing scholarships for over 350 children in several rural Guatemalan villages. Many of these students wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to attend school. A significant number of these scholarship students are sponsored by families from this church.  Many of these students, who began sponsorship in primary school, are now enrolled at university. Pura Vida is extremely grateful for your support.

Work teams have provided many news homes and school classrooms for needy communities in Guatemala.  Our English Camp has just completed it's 6th year teaching English skills to students in communities near Chichicastenango.  Your church has been instrumental in the success via sponsorships, mission trips and financial & prayer support throughout Pura Vida's history.

Please join us November 1st to celebrate our shared accomplishments and hear more about plans for the future of Pura Vida ministries.

For more details about the event and to order tickets, go to  http://www.puravida.org/dinner , or Nickie Rounds at  rounds@roundscpa.com  or  (303)-632-8191.

The Jigsaw Puzzle

A family had a hobby of putting together jigsaw puzzles. The father regularly brought home puzzles of greater and greater difficulty. One night he presented his family with a puzzle of over one thousand pieces. Immediately they tackled it. After an hour, however, the family was frustrated. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get the puzzle started.

The father then discovered that he had accidentally switched the box top with the top from another puzzle. The picture they were looking at wasn't the puzzle they were working on.

We may feel frustrated with God because God doesn't live up to the expectations we have. Sometimes we feel frustrated with the church because it doesn't match up with the ideal church we have in mind. We're often frustrated with others because they fall short of expectations we have of them.

Perhaps we should consider whether the problem in all these cases is that we are basing our expectations on a distorted view - of God or of the church or of others. Perhaps our expectations are unrealistic and can never be realized because we've been looking at the picture on the wrong box top.

Blessings,
Pastor Deb
