Hello from Republic School District! Tiger Talk is an e-newsletter distributed the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month during the school year. Thanks for reading! Archives can be found HERE.
We want your feedback! Participate in our Survey!
Republic School District invites parents and guardians of our kindergarten through 12th grade students to complete the short survey found at the link below (EC families will receive a separate survey in November). Your feedback allows us to see at what level we are meeting the needs of our students, families and community at large. Preparing each student for a successful future is our mission, and the information gathered through this survey provides us a measure to see how well we are achieving this goal.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open October 21-November 1. Thank you in advance!

Annual Performance Report Released
Last year you may remember us sharing that we received 100% on our Annual Performance Report (APR) from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The APR is basically our annual "grade card" from the State. It takes a look at performance standards like MAP/EOC scores, graduation rates, attendance rates, ACT scores, etc. to determine accreditation and performance levels.

This year, the State has changed the way they provide results of the APR which means no overall percentage is assigned to school districts. However, what is shared are data points focused on growth to help us meet student needs.

We have GREAT news to share again this year! Although no percentage point to share from the State, below is a summary of this year's APR results.
**English and math achievement is HIGHER than the state average across the district. Science results have not been shared yet, and social studies was not included.
**Student growth is EXCEEDING state expectations.
**The district is above STATE AVERAGE in the percentage of graduates who are college and career ready.
**The district's attendance rate SURPASSES the State's expectations.

Although APR results are important, the Republic School District continues to be focused upon and continuously monitoring our community created Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). This strategic plan is our district's road map to best meet the needs of our students here in Republic! We're very pleased with the progress we've made with our CSIP goals as well. A full report can be found at https://www.republicschools.org/csip.

Republic School District district attributes these successes to the hard work of our students and employee team! There has been a very intentional focus on goal setting and addressing individual gaps in student achievement. Way to go Tigers! #REPMOPROUD

Check out this video of Dr. Wistrom AKA "RepMO Man" surprising Officer Umbarger earlier today!

We proudly nominate Director of Safety and Security, Scott Umbarger as a RepMO Hero! Scott does so much for our district and most of it goes unnoticed. He is anywhere and everywhere the district needs him! He works hard to build relationships with staff and students from every building. My own kids talk about how he is over at Lyon during lunch and how he even plays basketball with the kids at recess. I see him at the middle school a lot and most of the time he is dealing with a situation that no one looks forward to. However, when he his able, he is out and about building relationships. Scott has done so much for our district since taking on his role. From marking all our doors in the district to re-keying the middle school to ensuring that our active shooter training is well done and practical, just to name a few. I truly appreciate Scott's leadership and I feel safe knowing he is the one leading the charge for our safety and security!

OCTOBER 17:
These Lyon Leaders along with Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Mitchell did a WONDERFUL job sharing about Lead Teams at their school! 100% of students have leadership opportunities at Lyon through 25 different teams! This allows students to grow their leadership capacity and make an impact on their school through contributing to efforts and activities they enjoy. #repmoproud

OCTOBER 21:
October 21-25 is National School Bus Safety Week! Each school day 3,500 Republic School District students ride to and from school in more than 50 school buses. We'll be sharing information with you all week about this important topic! Help protect our children! Observe School Bus Safety Week--every week! #repmoproud

It was a wonderful day celebrating LEADERSHIP! #repmoproud

*Dr. Wistrom provided a monthly update to the Board regarding district finances, DESE updates and district happenings.

All administrative reports can be found on BoardDocs.

Discussion items were as follows (details on BoardDocs):
Board policies
High school curriculum

The only item the Board took action upon was setting the tuition rate. As noted in Board Policy JECB, the district does not accept nonresident students. However, there are some exceptions noted in this policy. As such, it is necessary on an annual basis to set the tuition rate for the year in the event that a nonresident student is accepted under provisions defined in the policy. The tuition rate is based on the Weighted Average Daily Attendance (WADA) calculation in the ASBR. The computation for the 2019-2020 tuition rate is $8,936.

A special meeting will take place on Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. and a regular meeting is scheduled for November 21 at 7:00 p.m.
