April 5, 2017
Students discovered new (and old) things during a recent visit to the Bell County Museum, while others enjoyed activities in elementary after school clubs.
It's time for the annual Big Red Art Show! Opening night is Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm at the BISD Administration Building, 400 N. Wall Street, and will feature a reception, hands-on art activities for children of all ages, and the opportunity to view artwork from every campus! The art will remain on display through April 20.

On May 6, voters in Belton ISD will decide whether to issue bonds to fund four projects: a new high school, a new elementary school, the addition of music classrooms and a gymnasium at Lakewood Elementary, and updates to the Wall Street Auditorium in downtown Belton.

This is an important decision, and I expect that a lot of people will vote in this election. Pledge to vote at www.bisd.net/vote.

If you aren't already registered to vote, the deadline to register to vote in the May election is April 6. You can register to vote in-person at the Bell County Belton Courthouse Annex or by mailing in a signed voter registration application.

The Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation (BEEF) Golf and Tennis Tournament was a great success raising over $25,000! Thank you to everyone who supported the Foundation.
Message from the School Board President:

Our Schools! Our Community!

The word is out that this community is a great place to live, work and raise a family. That's one reason why Belton ISD is a fast-growth school district.

We grew by more than 3,000 students in the last decade and are projected to add about 3,600 students in the next ten years. As a result, our elementary and middle schools will be at or near capacity in 2019 and our high schools in 2021.

Over the past four years, the school board has studied the district's projected growth and facilities, held listening sessions, and worked with a long-range facilities planning committee. That group of parents, educators, students and other community members met throughout 2015 to develop the recommendations that form the basis of the Roadmap to BISD 2025.

The plan calls for building a new elementary school to open in 2019 and a new comprehensive high school to open in 2020. It would also repurpose Bhs9, which is currently part of the Belton High School campus, to serve as a middle school again starting in 2020.

I hope that you'll learn about the long-range facilities plan and then vote. You can find answers to frequently asked questions at www.bisd.net/BISD2025. Or better yet, let our students tell you about it.

I Love Belton!

Belton's students serving on the Belton Youth Advisory Commission planned, organized and participated in the City of Belton's One Community One Day service project. 150 volunteers served people living in 21 homes, and three Belton parks were serviced.

Congratulations for a great competition season to the 2017 Winter Guard and the Magic Belles who had a strong showing in the Nationals Dance Competition. Tiger Baseball takes on Midway at home this Friday at 7:00 p.m., and we are so proud of the great season by our Lady Tiger Bi-District Soccer Champions! Tiger One golf will begin district play on April 10 at Stonetree Golf Club in Killeen. The team recently took second place in the 24-team Collin Clark Memorial Tournament. Tiger Tennis took home a combined 10 medal spots from Leander and are competing in a district tournament in Waco this week.
We take pride in all we do and love the bonds of friendship our students make while learning. Thank you for helping us to achieve our mission of providing an education that challenges every student to excel.
