What is TRUTH?

A Note From Pastor Linda

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life."  (John 14)

Dictionary Definition of TRUTH:  the quality or state of being true; in accordance with fact or reality; a fact or belief that is accepted as truth.

Dear Friends~

Truth- what is it?

The truth is- the truth is hard to find these days.  But perhaps this is nothing new.  Dating all the way back to Biblical times, Pontius Pilate questioned truth when at the trial of Jesus he asked:   What is truth?  Even the Declaration of Independence that states:   We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights... yet today many ask if these truths are self-evident to all.  Truth is hard to find these days; truth in advertising, truth in labeling, truth in medicine, as well as truth in politics, media, business- yes, even religion.  What is TRUTH?

Back to Pontius Pilate, perhaps the better question rather than What is truth?- would have been Who is truth?  Jesus says:  I AM the way and the TRUTH and the LIFE.  As Martin Luther was fond of saying:  This is most certainly TRUE!

See you on Sunday- as another question of faith is answered- and it has to do with TRUTH!

Got Questions? Get Answers.
Fall Sunday Series

Everyone has questions.  Young children ask "why?"  Teenagers ask "why not?"  Adults question "what if?"  Do you have questions about God, Jesus, the Bible?  Do you have questions about life?  Do you have questions for God about life?  Every day, more and more people are going to Siri or Alexa or Google to find answers to their questions about and for God.  I have a better idea:  Come to Hosanna to "get answers."

September Read:
Educated:  A Memoir by Tara Westover
An unforgettable memoir about a young girl who, kept out of school, leaves her survivalist family and goes on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University.
The story begins:  Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches and sleeping with her "head-for-the-hills bag". In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard.
Discussion Date:  Tuesday, September 25 at 7pm at Kelly Monson's home.
