This month is nationally recognized as Bullying Prevention Month, and Kingsley will once again be participating in activities throughout the month surrounding this important topic. Further down in the Contact, find more details, as well as information on Unity Day. 

Kingsley will also be celebrating LGBTQ+ Equity Week next week, October 7-11. Click here to learn more about plans for all D65 schools.

Please remember that this week we will have our first early dismissal day on Wednesday. Students are released at 12:05pm.

October is Bullying Prevention Month   

October is Bullying Prevention Month and now is the time to talk about these issues with our children.

Click here to read more about Kingsley's participation in Unity Day, Wednesday October 23th. Students are encouraged to wear orange in support of standing together against bullying while unifying for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Mixed Bag Fall Fundraiser    

We are so excited to share that this year, we have partnered with Mixed Bag Designs to raise money for our wonderful school! 40% of every product sold will go directly to the Kingsley PTA to support Kingsley enrichment activities as well as scholarships for children to participate in school enrichment. If you haven't already seen the catalog, look for it in your child's schoolbag today!

Kingsley Book Closet This Friday

The first Kingsley Book Closet for Grades 1-5 is this Friday, October 4.  We need one more volunteer from 9:00am - 11:15am for the following classes: Nicholson, Weir, Larson, Leipitz, Kaplan, Israel, and Abraham

Parking 'Directors' Needed for NU Football Games         

Can you help with a funone-time volunteer opportunity that raises thousands of dollars for our students? Sign up for a couple hours to direct cars into the Kingsley parking lot before the NU home games. You don't even miss the game!

September has been a success, thanks to all our volunteers, including Ryan Mitchell, Jeff Totsch, James & Kelsie Davies, Sharon Hermes and Andy LaFond.  We need help in October, too. Math Olympiad Club - Adult Volunteers Needed!

The nationally recognized Math Olympiad for 4th and 5th graders is back at Kingsley this year. Meetings will be once a week (day TBD) before school from 8:00am - 8:50am at Kingsley, from mid-October thru March.

D65 Wellness Walk    

Let's start the year off moving! Come out and walk with your family, school, and community! The walk will take place at James Park. Health and Wellness vendors will be at Dawes Elementary School.

Green Team Lunchroom Help
    

Sign up here to help with the Kingsley Green Team efforts at lunch time. It's a great opportunity to help our Comets compost and recycle to reduce lunch waste
Reid Garden Updates

Egg Cartons
Reid Garden needs your cardboard egg cartons for composting! We will be collecting them by the red shed in the garden. 

Volunteers
The Reid garden team is looking for adults to volunteer in the garden during lunch recess on Fridays from 11:10am - 1:20pm. No garden experience necessary. Just bring a desire to engage with the kids and nature.

Kingsley PCAR & Next Step Series: How to be an Antiracist in Evanston

The focus of Kingsley Parent Conversations about Race (PCAR) this school year will be the ideas and actions laid out by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi in his new book, How to be an Antiracist. We are thrilled to partner with the District 65-wide Next Steps Series to bring all adults in our school community (parents, grandparents, caregivers, neighbors, teachers, school leaders and staff) an incredible opportunity to learn and act together in order to LIVE OUR IDEALS and make our school community and Evanston more equitable.

Register for Girls Play Sports 

Girls Play Sports (GPS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering leadership skills and confidence in girls through participation in a wide variety of sports. The program engages girls, grades 3-8, in multiple sports without a long-term or expensive commitment. GPS engages girls in meaningful conversations about current topics that affect young women today.

Registration is currently open for the following programs:

1. 3rd-5th grade FREE GPS After School Clinics: ETHS female athletes come to each elementary school one a month and introduce girls to 2 new sports. October sports are basketball and lacrosse.

2. 5th-8th grade Team GPS (October is Basketball and Lacrosse): this session meets October 13th, 20th and 27th from 4-6pm @ETHS. Led by the ETHS female athletes, Team GPS exposes girls to two new sports each month.

Financial aid is available. Select 'YES' for a 100% scholarship on the registration form.
